“Bitch Island”.
It is a bit of a dishonest translation to be fair. The word “kjerring” is old but more recently has been used to mean bitch. Originally it was a neutral vernacular term for a wife, a bit like “my old lady” in American vernacular. It was become increasingly negative to imply traits like being a woman who is a nag, hard, mean, strict, or cruel to her husband.
The probable reason for the name is that originally Kjerringøy was a community run by women as the men were at sea fishing or on trading journeys. Many would not come back from such dangerous activity, leaving the farming, trading and so one to a steadily growing female population.

like most things these days, what was ok not so many years ago would not fly today.
I remember reading the comics as a kid, laughing when Andy Capp would smack his wife.
At the time..it was a popular strip.
would be career suicide today.
Thanks on that informative back story on the name:) -
Wow,love that shot. Right up my alley.
Thank you! However, it is one of those places where taking good photos is really easy.
. Don’t be so modest. It took some level of planning to go underneath the deck, shoot out using the poles as leading lines to help frame the reflection of the clouds in the water. I’ve been in plenty of situations where the proverbial great shot is right in front of me,and some how missed it. You did very good.

FFS, don't big him up. I'm getting pissed off at his bakery skills as it is…...
Ha… any baking skills I may have developed have been learnt from you and this forum, with a little help from Ken Forkish.
As for camera skills I used to run the media department at my school and some basic things may have rubbed off. After that it’s all the iPhone.
But you’re both very kind [emoji4]

Woke up at 0230 yesterday for a run to catch the sunrise up on Mt. Hood. It was an epic morning, and was home in time for breakfast with the kids..
