I wanted it specifically for carry on my non dominant side, and I like that the slider is easy to actuate. I find it a lot easier to work than the spine sided sliders.

I was on a Microtech binge about fifteen years ago and the sliders on the Ultratechs were stiff and the entire knife was slippery. Wound up selling them.

I just checked the secondary prices of Halo III's and I'm really angry with myself right now…I had four....

Size is right about perfect as a backup weapon, it will be my secondary option on my non dominant side after my pistol when I conceal carry.

My tertiary option in full kit is a Bastinelli Manaia

Today was payday and I got this just because it's cool, I have no clue what the hell I'm going to do with it beyond hanging it on the wall and giggling over how ridiculous it is.

Bastien Coves has been around a while, his designs were always a mixture of fantasy knife with Filipino Martial Art functionality. I wasn't into his early stuff but the specs are pretty good.

Btw, this will see no regular use, I intend to only have it with me for defensive purposes.

I've screwed up Ultratechs before by retracting them with tape and glue on the blade.

I just got a Combat Trodoon. It's a great piece of kit. The trigger is a bit hard to fire, but that's probably something I could practice.

Why? He has a family and a right to defend himself both personally and professionally. I’m not defending the egregious attacks that officers have perpetrated but there are legit reasons for drawing a weapon.

I dont know Doug personally, but after reading him on the forums for the last 10 years, he seems to know his shit.

If I’m misunderstanding your perspective and you are making more of a social commentary then I apologize for calling you out. It’s easy to misconstrue opinions in the world that we live in today.

I think it's theoretical. Doug will shoot an attacker before thinking fillets. 😉

                I’m not sad.

I take the personal responsibility of being able to defend myself. I don’t expect anyone else to do it for me, but if they are available, I will take it.

The world has never been a safe place. Even the most primitive of animals have the ability to defend themselves.

Humans are just the only ones that believe that they’re above it.

That's right. Come to the States and find out what Minnesota Friendly really means.  ???

No shit, by tonight I will have three families under my roof with a couple more people still thinking about hiding out here until the protesting/rioting is over. We're right by DC.

My friends and family know my house is basically a fortress, so it's always a party here when shit goes down.

The two oriented vertically are made by TRC Knives, a brand from Lithuania.

The bottom one is made by a French knife maker.

I’ve handled the Infidels and I wasn’t overly impressed. The blade rattled, the handle was thicker but didn’t seem to add anything to the conversation but weight, and the Dirac has the same cover firing mechanism.

Their customer service is better than microtechs though

I’m looking at buying my first high(er) end knife this summer. There are a number of Spyderco knives that have caught by eye including an iteration of the Native, but does anyone have intel on or experience with Bestech?

Their Pebble knife is very attractive and is the sort of size I’m looking for. It also has what I think of as a utilitarian blade which will suit my everyday needs …

I know that the Bestech Junzi has had some great reviews over at Hennie, not handled one in person though. I have one of the UK legal Hinderer’s which I really like but I would say that the quality of the Spyderco stuff is second to none and the leaf shaped blade looks non-threatening and is pretty practical for edc imo.
