In my opinion the 17OZ denim isn’t in the same league as these, and I have both.

I realize they are two different animals, but why do you say that?

This is just my 2 cents, and your mileage may vary. I think it’s a much more comfortable, flexible, breathable fabric. Had no problem wearing it through a humid NYC summer. Love the way it’s starting to fade, and the cut looks great with boots or sneakers. At the end of the day all of this stuff would go out the window if I didn’t like the way they looked on me. It’s close to the 21OZ in feel. I got zero stretch out of the 17OZ,after putting in 135 days. They were never all that comfortable. Being a 555 cut they looked OK on me. Haven’t worn them in a while, been thinking about trying to sell them.

I've said this before but this is my only pair of IH denim and the fit is great, even though I haven't worn them but only tried on. I have a size 34 from the first run that I got on the B/S/T forum and the measurements are similar to the 777 cut IMO. But, I think that's because most of the shrink is out of the fabric. I checked the measurements from the current run and it looks like maybe it was tweaked a little, so the previous measurements for a 34 appear close to the current size 33. But, take my comment with a grain of salt because i'm usually wrong about these things  😃

Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with this denim. The turquoise W and brown weft are pretty cool too.

Which reminds me, that 22oz pronto type III sample that @Giles posted looks dope as hell. Cool to see it in a one wash and unwashed version.

I’m 15 days in to a new pair so can’t really help. One thing I will say is that after 15 days of regular wear (high school job) the creases have set very nicely and elctric blue is showing in the honeycombs already. There are nice white spots already showing on pocket corners, belt loops etc. Fade potential seems promising.

TL/DR: I bought some jeans in slightly the wrong size, so I bought a second pair. The denim is so beautiful I may well keep both.

                    For those with the patience:

I've always lusted after a pair of these, mostly because of the denim. Perfect weight (imho), the brown weft looks amazing and I like the turquoise details too. But when they came out I was sworn off both the 555 and the 634, which the two available models were loosely based on. The 634 I love but can be a little blocky on me, the 555 I adore but tends to be far too slim in the thigh. The 888 came out and solved all my worries though.

The last pairs of IH jeans I bought were the IH-888-XHSib and the IH-888S-OD, both of which I'm very pleased with, but I was looking through my closet for some indigo pairs and realised every pair I had were quite heavily faded. So I started researching an indigo pair. After considering the IH-888S, and the IH-777S-21, I went back to have a look at the measurements of these. With the exception of my trashed IH-555-01's which I will never sell, I don't have any truly slim jeans anymore, so it seemed the stars were aligned. Having lost a bit of weight recently I then had a moment of skinny bitch delusion and went for a W33. I figured that the starting measurements were doable and the shrinkage would stretch right back out, and hey, I was thin! I made an educated guess regarding hemming, ordered and tried to wait patiently. They arrived about three weeks ago. I opened the bag and was overjoyed.

The denim is incredible. I'm not sure why it isn't being rushed into production and made into every cut available. It seems to me the perfect IH denim. It has the smooth, even hand, and tight weave of the OG 18oz denim and the softness, pliability and heft of the 21oz. The colour is phenomenal, a deep dark indigo, verging on black, made darker by the golden brown weft. When I put them on I realised I was cutting it close. The waist was fine, but the legs were tight. If this was 21oz I would have been happy, knowing they would relax considerably, but these will shrink a little, so the first time they saw water I'd be screwed in all likelihood.

I decided to wear the buggers without a soak, to see what kind of stretch I could achieve. Perhaps I could beat the shrinkage that way. After 15 wears they had loosened a little, but I'd fallen even more in love with them. I knew that I'd need a pair I could soak, wash and use as the mainstay of my rotation. So I got Graham to find a W34 with a smaller waist size and they arrived a couple of days ago, unhemmed.

I've done the hot soak with this pair and here are the dims for posterity and the common good:

                    ***  Pre-soak  Post-soak
                    WA:  90.6        88.4
                    FR:  29            28
                    BR:  39.8        38.7
                    TH:  33            31.7
                    KN:  21.8        21.6
                    HE:  21            20.5
                    IN:    94.3        92

This puts the W34's as marginally bigger post soak than the W33's new, with the exception of the rise which is certainly longer. Pretty much perfect in other words.

I know that I should probably just sell the W33's but I'm honestly so enamoured of this denim and this cut that I'm going to keep both around. When the W33's need washing, if they end up impossible, then I'll sell them. After years in the game and many pairs of IH jeans I'm never disappointed and always impressed, but these really are something else. A beautiful object in their own right and and just a smashing item of clothing.

You know I’ve always been a big fan of your style and fashion sensibilities. And always think you look good, but I have to say in my opinion these jeans look better on you than anything I’ve ever seen you in. I think the snug fit looks cool AF/Badass on you. Good score. Will they fit over your Black WESCOS?

@Jett129  thank you very much for that, I really appreciate all of it. Although I’m not sure it is warranted.

I really enjoy wearing slimmer jeans but heavy denim, too tight is a. not so comfortable, b. an extra expensive way to wear already expensive jeans (my 555’s have been repaired three times). But I do love the look.

I’ve worn them with some MP toe wesco’s with 9” unlined shafts and they are fine. The black Boss are 11” and lined so I suspect the shafts will look weird inside the jeans. I will have a go and report back though.

Sadly we never got SNL in the UK, nor do we have it Norway. I’m familiar with some of the classic sketches (more cowbell, anyone), but I have to say I’m don’t disagree. I’ve always suspected I’d do alright as a woman, given all the crap they put up with to look good.
