…but even if you do, if you log the GPS coordinates and scour the area, being at least the equal of a Submariner, it should be fine even after 14 months undersea.

    Think it, be it.

      @Graeme:

@Finn666 glad to hear you've made your mind up. Hopefully the Rolex waiting list gods are kind to you.

@Finn666 looks like the waiting list wasn't too bad. I've got a suspicion that times quoted are exaggerated, except for the Daytona and GMT…

The Sea Dweller looks good. Doesn't seem too big for your wrist, and is a less obvious choice than the Submariner.

also put my name on the list for a gmt master II batman with the jubilee bracelet from 2019 while at the store…should take around 1-1.5years for it to arrive.

yeah the GMT master might take awhile.. i'm not convinced it will be 1-1.5 years.. unless of course after this purchase, they're more inclined to "move you up"

let's hope it's 1-1.5 years…need some time to work and afterwards reward myself again. can't buy a rolex "just because" haha

                        No one:

Monads at Crown Casino are having their watch week until 30th June, which is when they show off the novelties from the top end of the Swatch Group. Of course I went to take a look… 😃

The Blancpain Air Command is a very nice piece, and it's got quite a vintage Fifty Fathoms vibe to it. I liked it.

The Nageurs de Combat is a fairly typical Fifty Fathoms, but with a black 7 on the dial. The caseback is solid.

Then there's the Barakuda. It's smaller than most Fifty Fathoms, and I love the dial design. However, I'd probably go for the Bathyscaphe Seventies instead. (Unfortunately Monads sold the one they had in stock a week or two ago.)

A few people got excited about the Glashutte Original SeaQ. I took a look at the panodate version, with the blue dial and fabric strap, or the one that I'd buy.

Compared to the Fifty Fathoms, the movement is more highly decorated, with stripes on the plates. The larger Blancpains have 120 hours power reserve, the Barakuda has around 80 from memory, and the Glashutte has 100. They've all got silicon mainsprings.

The Fifty Fathoms case is quite sculptural, with rounded sides. The SeaQ's is more basic, it's a very refined tool watch. They're probably about the same thickness, but I didn't get to compare them side-by-side.

I'd be tempted by the SeaQ over the Fifty Fathoms, particularly with the blue dial. If I went with the Blancpain, I'd try to track down a Bathyscaphe Seventies.

A couple more Glashutte Original watches. I love the orange dial.

                            Jaquet Droz Chronograph and Skelet-One.

Ulysse Nardin Freak X. This is the budget version of the Freak, but still clocks in at $32,000 Aussie.

And their Executive Skeleton Tourbillon. This was pretty cool.

It's the Year of the Pig, which means that @Seul can spend far too much on a themed watch! :p

Spotted in a window, the IWC Spitfire Perpetual Calendar, which has a bronze case.

Want an Omega without a helium valve? And that had a depth rating that laughs at the pathetic pressure a Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweller can handle?

You're in luck: Omega have just shown off the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional, with a 15,000 metre rating. And they sent it down to the bottom of the Marianas Trench to test it.

                              Only two problems:

                              • They only made four, so you're probably not going to get your hands on one.

                              • It's 28mm thick, so won't fit under your shirt cuffs!

Time and Tide have an article about it. Worth a read.

Thanks for that @Graeme, I really appreciate the effort and it allowed me to a look at things I wouldn’t have discovered in my own. I have lots of opinions about all of these but don’t feel qualified to express them [emoji1]

@neph93 my opinion is that if you like it and it keeps time, it's fine. 😃

I don't think that you need to be much more qualified than that.
