Batman being the only superhero franchise I'm remotely interested in, this is not good news; having said that, it's also not the worst possible news, as Pattinson showed some relevant qualities in Cosmopolis (2012). Wait and see, then.

I'm conflicted. I think Pattinson is a capable actor but playing Batman might be a stretch. But then again, I remember when Daniel Craig was criticized when he got the role of James Bond in Casino Royale and turned out to be the best Bond ever. Pattinson would have to pack on some serious muscle for this role but I think his age might be a harder sell. Bruce Wayne has always struck me as an older captain of industry rather than some fresh faced young guy right outta college. Maybe Pattinson will surprise everyone.

@gaseousclay I've heard a rumour that the new Batman film is supposed to be set in the nineties, so it's a prequel featuring a younger Bruce Wayne.

In any case he's about the same age as Christian Bale was in Batman Begins, and that didn't turn out too badly.

              In other movie news…

The trailer doesn't look great but, the people working behind the camera lead me to believe this could be alright.

The Terminator franchise has basically been remaking the same film for years, and so far this one hasn't deviated from the template. I'm not sure how they could shake things up. Either expand the universe, as Blade Runner 2049 did, or go full mental like Mad Max Fury Road.

Of course, I'll go see it anyway. 😃

And westernized protagonists is a thing in Asian cinema. If you watch anime you can note the good guys always have rounder eyes than the bad guys.

Not sure about other cultures, but as far as Japan goes I'd argue that depends on genre, and may be specific to anime. Show me a Kurosawa film with a Western protagonist, for example. And looking outside Japan, films like Hard Boiled have, at least to my recollection, an entirely Asian cast.

                    Think it, be it.

Zombieland was great.  And I don't even especially like zombie movies.

It was written by the same guys who wrote Deadpool too

Watched DEADPOOL and DEADPOOL 2 yesterday… Currently watching ZOMBIELAND... Now there's some good ole American FUN...

Those guys also wrote the script for Life, that sci-fi horror film that came out last year. Also features Ryan Reynolds [emoji106]

                                    Loved Shaun of the Dead.

It's getting harder and harder for creatives to reinvent the zombie genre. World War Z (the book) was amazing but the movie absolutely sucked. It bore no resemblance to the book except in title only.

😃 I loved Rambo 2008 and I hope this movie is equally as cheesy and violent. I think the 2008 movie was one of the goriest movies I have ever seen.
