You should try using it in the kitchen, the blade shape is really conducive to cutting vegetables.

So I went through all of the current models on the Spyderco website and the one I'd definitely buy is… the Native  😃 So job well done, Doug...

        This is cute though... https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details/C28OR2/Dragonfly-2-Lightweight-Orange/818

A couple of my really small SAKs when I'm padding around the house in my pajamas (which has been a lot lately since I've been on furlough for five weeks)

It's amazing how handy such a tiny little knife is. Opening battery compartments to kids toys, opening dog food bags, tightening the screws on doorknobs/light switches. I can even rewick my vape with just this one pocketknife.

I have one or two of the Orange Dragonfly's. They are EXCELLENT.

I actually have about a dozen Dragonfly's littered throughout my house.

The orange ones get used the most because…theyr'e easy to find  😃

I'd highly recommend you get one of those if you get the itch to buy another Spyderco.

They're not as versatile as the Native because they're so small, but they're incredibly useful.

That first one is absolutely stunning…

And yeah: I see the Dragonfly is Japanese made, uses VG-10 steel, FRN handles, and has a nice clip. I won't end up with a dozen littered throughout the pad (nutter  😃 ) but I definitely want to pick one up... Perfect to toss in the old backpack...

Ok, in my defense, this is generally what happens…

Jody brings me a box wherever I am. I leave the box there and grab one of my Dragonflys to open it. The Dragonfly stays in whatever room I was in...I can't find said Dragonfly and I buy another one...

Not nuts...just overly eager to hit "buy again" on Amazon... 😃

                    😃

Thanks, didn't know about this one…

Edit: the core is carbon steel. I remember you had issues with rust on carbon steels in the past. Might genuinely want to pass on this one. VG10 really is one of the most easy to care for blade steels after Victorinox steel, so if I were you I'd go with the orange one over this one.

                      This is my favorite Dragonfly

I don't think you can find them anymore, and I treat mine like it's made out of Unobtanium. 1 because you can't find them anymore, and 2 because it's a pain in the ass to sharpen.

I didn't see that… Carbon steel and wooden handles... My knives get wet a lot so not the best choice indeed... Will go with orange FRN... Cool wee knife if you're a collector though me thinks... The Howes ltd. edition is sick as well!..

                        Thanks for your help, Doug.

Prior to the past few years of my life, I didn't give any consideration to edc knives. Changing careers at the beginning of this decade has really changed that, though. Frankly, I don't know how I ever went through life, for so long, without carrying.

Up to this point, I've been carrying a half dozen or so inexpensive Kershaws. While, they've been somewhat serving my purposes, I've gotten the feeling I'm missing out on the usefulness of a better quality build. With a bit of reading(the final enablement coming here), I decided to acquire a Native 5. Most opinions I've read seemed to point to a preference for the lightweight version, and researching steels led me to pick S35VN for my first build. With the code @Manticore provided, I'm definitely happy with the price. Thanks for the push, fellas…

                          Here it is...

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

You can spend a lot more money on a knife than the Native, but the improvement in functionality will only be incremental at best.

If I still carried a locking single bladed knife, it would be either the Native or the Dragonfly.

But for me, a multitool suits my needs better.

                                    I decided to acquire a Native 5.

Today I used it extensively for the first time… It is a brilliant piece of kit... The sound of the locking mechanism is EPIC... The whole thing feels sturdy as fuck... Light... Handles like a dream... It just confirms that I don't need a knife bigger than 7" (total length, also insert 7" "that's what she said" joke)...

I hope you have the same feelings about this, but I'm almost certain you will... Just remember to apply some WD-40 if it's not opening smooth at first... It almost felt like it was grinding against another bit of metal at first, but it just needed a bit of lube (insert 7" here)...

There probably was just a bit of grit in the pivot and the WD40 washed it out.
