A couple from New York are traveling around the country to #PaintLoveAcrossAmerica and I happened to run into them while they were in Portland, OR. Long story short… they extended their trip to paint a mural for us in the food cart courtyard. (Hawthorne Asylum)

@Matty123 it's really great winter food. Traditionally the salting was normal back in the day as a method of preserving meat through the winter. The smoking was a coastal tradition as there was a worry that low altitudes and the proximity of the fjords meant that salting wasn't enough and that mould could form on the hung meat. This has no basis in science but it it carries on today as it tastes good. The unsmoked variety is also popular.

Took the family for a nice little walk. We live near the High Line Canal, which has a trail that goes 60 miles across the metro area. The part we are near winds through Cherry Hills Village behind some fuck-you rich houses. It's pretty neat, a lot of the properties are little horse farms and they have dedicated through-ways for biking, walking/jogging, and horse riding throughout the area. It's quite scenic and full of intriguing smells and new friends for Otis, and soon, his little sister.
