Years go by, and still, I can never get enough Dime.

Yep. Saw these guys twice 25 yrs ago and probably one of the best shows I’ve been to. Damn I’m ancient but damnit, those were the days

I got to see SLEEP again tonight. They really sounded fantastic. The opening act Weather Warlock was really weird. He doesn't play any instruments for the most part and somehow uses the weather to make feedback that drones through some crazy amps.

I was lucky and got to be in the first row this time. 🙂

The cool bouncer in in the front game me the set list.

They had woven patches and a ton of merch. I bought a lot of stuff because the ticket was only $25. They should be charging a lot more, I think.

I have been feeling so depressed recently that I almost didn't even go. But I am really glad I did.

Sorry about the depression and hope it abates, but super envious about the show and mementos, what a great night!

Thanks. I need to stop isolating I think. Because I feel pretty awesome right now. I was thanking the bouncer and shook his hand… just trying to show my gratitude... and he gave me the set list. I am going to frame it with my ticket stub. I have a a whole slew of Sleep posters. But that one is extra big. I had to stand on a chair to get the whole poster in frame.

@Filthy music is indeed cathartic bro. I can only imagine how good this gig was…AND they played Dragonaut ! As a death metal and hard-core punk kid back when Sleeps holy mountain was released it blew me away a led me to so many other great bands.

My wife and I go to see Slowdive and The War on Drugs play a shared headline gig this week. Like you my Bi polar hasn't been great recently so I think I'll be a crying mess mid way through. I hope the positive energy stays with you dude

Best wishes to you too @Stuart.T The War on Drugs is such a great name for a band.  😛

Edit: also Dragonaut had an extra 'acoustic' bluesy sounding intro. The entire venue was silent. It was pretty amazing.

The War on Drugs are great. The band, not the failing crusade against some mind altering substances.  😃

@Filthy hope you'll be feeling better soon. The show might have been the start and motivate you to go out more often which i think helps. Btw I Saw Sleep for the first time this year and it was a really great experience.

I used to go out a lot. But I had a tendency to fall in with shitty people. I have been trying to avoid this so now I tend to stay home.  I need to join a church or something haha xD

@Wander I knew My Bubba (their body percussion is fantastic). Hadn't heard him though. Sort of a Colter Wall feel. Good stuff.Gillian Welch and Lucinda Wlliams really blew the doors off for anything even slightly Americana to have a wider audience. No bad thing.

We're in the midst of an Americana renaissance. And while have lost folks like Guy Clark as a great generation of singers/songwriters ages, the likes of Bob Dylan, John Prine, Ray Wylie Hubbard, James McMurtry, Jorma Kaukonen, and others are still producing music, including live music. Lucky us.

Towards the country end of the spectrum, you have the emergence of Shooter Jennings, Brent Cobb, Dave Cobb, Chris Stapleton, Landhorne Slim, Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, Ryan Bingham, Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price, Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Rayland Baxter, Mary Gauthier, and Hayes Carll just to name a few.

Then there are tons of folky and (new / ) grassy (Billy Strings, Shakey Graves, Punch Brothers, Wood Brothers, Greensky Bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters, Lil' Smokies, Trampled By Turtles, Pert' Near Sandstone, millions more of em) acts as well. And many of the best ones can span all of the above genres and more.
