@mclaincausey Many congrats to both of you, but especially you
No structural implications thank you. The brickie came in the following morning and repointed everywhere he needed to….

Thanks much gents, she's far better than I deserve. The analogy used in the States is that I "out kicked my coverage."
Glad the rain didn't jack up the project!

Congrats @mclaincausey good to see two people so happy. Enjoy!

Nice man. New blood indeed if you grab it from the top

I like it. The dance and the wallpaper.

and the floor and the trim

Yeah it’s awesome. The wallpaper reminds me of the video game Qbert

If you already know the answer, why do you even ask the question, Giles?
Of course Julie picked it. You think she'd trust me to make decorating decisions?

Haha, one of those "better to ask for forgiveness than permission" scenarios? I dread the permitting and financial sides of the process the most. Once we have both in place is when I'll really get excited for the process. Next days off, I get to tackle some concrete removal to keep us within our allowed impervious cover limits.
Everything in the shaded portion needs to be removed:
Needless to say, I'll be getting some quality time in with a sledgehammer and this new toy:

Had a conversation last night about progress on the house and I found out that the plumbing fixtures that were "ready to install" two weeks ago were in a warehouse in North Carolina and couldn't be shipped until today because of post hurricane flooding. Who needs faucets, after all?
And the fixtures arrived yesterday. I suspect they weren't shipped when we were told they shipped. Two and a half weeks seems just a tad slow. But at least they're here. Now we get to see how long it will be before they're actually installed. I'm hoping before November.
Now if we could just get utilities connected…

Looking nice Dan!

Gonna be hanging a tv myself in the next couple of days. Hopefully, mine will look as nice.

That's a very cozy setup Doc!
Brandi wants our living room more minimalist, which means hanging the TV and getting rid of the TV stand, which also houses a receiver and center channel. I have old Paradigm mains and center up front with a sub, and I love the way they sound, even if we don't listen to them much (usually Sonos–we have one in the living room). If we go this route, we would probably ditch all of that and get a Sonos soundbar. While I love the idea of a cleaner look, less stuff to dust, and a bit more space, I would miss the old speakers and I don't have anywhere else to put them, since the rest of the house is riddled with Sonos. If we stick with the Paradigms, I will likely get a Sonos-capable Onkyo receiver and move the living room Sonos into a bathroom for shower music, or heck maybe pair it as a rear 5.2 channel. Then I could enjoy the convenience of Sonos with the sound of vintage Paradigms.
