We watched 'a quite place' recently. I am a big horror film fan but the genre has generally gone to crap over recent years. I enjoyed this though, interesting premise and well acted (by genre standards).
Watched this last night and I agree, interesting idea. I thought the creature design was kinda cool but I wished they didn’t rely so much on cgi. The other appealing thing for me is you don’t know anything about the creatures before or after the film and how they came to inhabit the planet. It’s those types of mysteries that I like because it leaves you to speculate

I just saw the new Predator movie and it was amazing. For a big time comic book nerd the movie was fantastic. It was very gory and very funny. The most interesting thing about the movie is that the kid in the movie is on the Autism spectrum (like me) and he helps save the day. Don't believe the lukewarm reviews… the movie is great. Also, Olivia Munn is probably the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.

I could go in to greater detail about why I liked the movie so much. But I don't want to spoil it for anybody. So I was vague about it. Thanks @sabergirl

Thanks for the heads up @Filthy, I didn't even know there was a new Predator movie out.
-
Pretty excited about this

@Filthy you do realise that being on the spectrum means that Predators are going to be after you now?
I'm autistic too, so liked the kid, and the sentiment that we're the next step of human evolution.
I enjoyed the film. It's pretty mindless and violent throughout, and I love Shane Black's dialogue. But it did feel a bit choppy in parts, as though scenes have been edited out.
And, "Get to the choppers!"

The entire 3rd act was pretty rough. They had to reshoot it at the very last minute.

Rocknrolla: 5/10
Finally got around to seeing this and wasn't very impressed. I really like Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch but this one just fell flat.
-
Rocknrolla…
To be honest I think you're being a little generous. It was worthless shite im(nv)ho.
-
I liked it too. Great cast.
-
Yeah, it’s not as good as those two but, I found it fun and passed the time quite well. And, as a North American, I wasn’t used to seeing Gerard Butler, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Thandie Newton in these kind of roles. (Mark Strong being Mark Strong in a Guy Ritchie film helped, too.)
I also enjoyed Revolver, though…

Any movie with Lou Reed’s “The Gun” has gotta be good
-
Well there you go. I was deeply dissapointed and found it lacked the style, class and humour of Snatch and Lock, Stock, both of which I love.
My feelings too. It felt recycled but not in a good way.

Cary Fukunaga to direct next Bond film.
Pretty excited about this. I really liked True Detective, so it'll be interesting to see what he brings to the Bond universe.

American Made: 6/10
Not great but not terrible. I typically like Tom Cruise’s films regardless of the subject matter. I don’t see him doing too many biopics either so it was a nice departure from his usual action/sci-fi films.
