Photograph and Camera talk

Moon last night over Sea Isle City NJ. Took about 100 shots to get, had to really mess with settings, especially turning shutter speed waaay down. Had to keep super still (I was on a wooden balcony to boot), I now see the use of having a tripod. But, it feels good to really capture something. Used the 18-200 zoom lens.

ASDA is a crappy British supermarket.

I mentioned to Sam in an email recently that I  very much enjoy the creative motifs and humour in his pictures as well as his technical skill.

I find it hard to take the credit for my technical ability when I took the picture on an iPhone but I still appreciate it @neph93

West Wales is mostly this in every direction. Nice if you like that kind of thing but awful for young people.

@Sam You tend to be pretty modest about your photographic skills,but a couple of things have to happen in order for us to see those pictures. You see the reflections,the training kicks in,you take out your phone,compose the shot,and if you hadn’t told me I never would’ve known that it was a phone picture. Most people can’t do it. As far as Walmart or Walgreens go,I wouldn’ Know the difference,but I’m sure my wife would be able to tell me.

Cheers @Jett129 I think phone photography is slowly becoming more wildly accepted despite the general lack of control you get over the exposure and depth of field. Most of which can be fiddled with in post anyway. I do hide in the shadows of modesty… I'm sure a therapist could tell me why

As @Jett129 says there are lots of skills involved in your iPhone photography. Maybe technical is the wrong word. Theoretical perhaps? Composition, understanding how the light works etc.

I think technical was/is the right word,because without the technical ability,you're not always able to capitalize on the creative impulse and achieve a successful outcome. I think sometimes my creative side helps me to compensate for some of my technical deficiencies,which is what causes me to delete a lot of my images.
