So it looks like my tag is 31 (waist 31.5") but my fear is that it will shrink too much after first soak and I can't enjoy wearing them 😞

As long as you do what it says on the packet you’ll be fine. My experience is that UHR is not difficult to stretch in the waist after the first shrinkage. It isn’t as uncomfortable or testing a process as the 25oz for example.

Does this batch measure more or less the same as the earlier one or is the measurements table likely to get updated? Glad I waited for the yellow arcs, really liking the looks.

Yes, if it differed it would have a separate chart  🙂

I own plenty of pairs of Iron Heart jeans and a few other Japanese brands. About 15, I think. Of all of them I really appreciate how well this denim stacks and fades fast….

…And how well these fit. This is the first pair I own that I have been wearing without a belt and they stay up. They are very snug in the knee and top block at first, but loosen up to fit perfectly after 2 weeks. And they don't crowd my nuts, and my butt crack doesn't show when I sit. They are quite perfect. Perfect enough that I haven't worn my overalls in over 2 weeks...

I feel like I have been missing out that I've gone the past year letting them sit in the closet. Also the denim gets very silky soft after 2 weeks. I wrote them off at first because my 177 CPO seemed heavier at first… but I think I was mistaken because the denim is quite heavy, but not as thick. But it seems to have gotten beefier after wearing them for a while. They are really great. Thanks a lot guys!

I've had the joy to own and put time into 666-uhr's for a year, sadly squats killed their wear time; but I picked them out of the closet last night to try them on and compare them to the UHR from this batch.  (barely got into them…)

But one thing stood out; The touch factor on those older UHR denim is amazing - it definitely felt thicker than the 23oz from this latest batch.

Has anyone else compared the two UHR's side by side?

They do feel slightly different than the first UHR. I'd say the old batch had a richer texture and did feel slightly thicker but as G mentioned several times every run even of the same denim behaves differently. It's still a gorgeous denim nonetheless.

It's the same warp and weft as we have always used for this denim, just a different (but same make and model) loom….

Well that's good that everyone doesn't see a difference.  My history is mostly with the 666 cuts; but I just can't get used to the way the upper block settles on my frame.  I am sure most of it is in the fact that the denim hasn't settled yet.

My 888-uhr's have about 5 months of wear on them; office time, kid time, getting tacked by my Doberman time, and they just got their 3rd wash yesterday.  My dog gave me a hug after running through wet grass that I just got done getting watered.  ::)

So regarding fit, I hope this last wash helps; the 666-uhr's are my all-time favorite but they kept on shrinking and shrinking and now they are just too tight on my thighs.  The 888's that I'm wearing now just haven't felt that same "it" factor, yet…

                                    Size 38

Can't believe how much more fitted they seem…i really thought I gave them a good vigilant wash in pretty hot water before. I was wrong!

So  in total, I had 1 soak and 2 washes in the warmest tap water my city has before this... I really can't imagine much more shrinkage coming.  So for anyone else wondering, that's my story.

Agitation is the key to shrinkage, more so than heat. Probably the reason why. I always put my UHR through the washing machine on 800rpm spin. That seems to max out shrinkage at the first time of asking. I’m happy it worked out for you @Mnbiker

It was a serious toss up between these and the IH-888-RE, and the UHR won.
