As a young parent, that's why I would just remove our family from the situation and leave. It just made more sense for us to be "inconvenienced", instead of inconveniencing the entire restaurant or store, because the only thing worse than a crying baby or annoying kid is someone else's crying baby or annoying kid, lol
Crying babies used to bother me before I was a parent. After my son was born my views completely changed and now it doesn't bother me at all. Likewise with annoying kids. We all have our own personal tolerances to those things

I have strong aversions to sounds…
Did I also mention that I'll leave a restaurant if people nearby are talking too loud or have bad table manners (Gulping, chomping, smacking...)? But, that's an entirely different subject, and is subjective as well, as nearly all things in life are.

Haha. I'm surprised you lasted as long as you did in Japan – all that slurping
But I hear you, the loud smacking/chomping of food and eating with your mouth open is mildly annoying to me. -

Oddly enough, despite being half-Japanese I could never slurp noodles. The steam makes me cough and spit my food up.

I try to be mindful of eating habits and how they're reflected in different cultures. My mom, who is Japanese, slurps/smacks/chomps her food very loudly. It bugs me but I wouldn't say anything to her about it because that's how it is for her. Her and her boyfriend also inhale their food as if it were their last meal. I, on the other hand, take my time and enjoy my food. My mom explained to me that her boyfriend grew up in a big family and being the youngest he always had to eat fast, otherwise, his siblings would eat everything.

Adele is more popular, but she absolutely doesn't have a better voice or music.
Kinda the same how Levi's is more popular than Iron Heart…..
I dunno. I think Adele has an amazing voice. I was never into Amy Winehouse but this is the unpop thread so I guess it's all subjective. I will admit that when I see concert footage of Adele's shows I find them cringeworthy. It's nothing but a sea of Bic lighters

Winehouse was a visionary who did things I've never heard vocally and brought back organic soul music into the mainstream in an era of computerized, sequenced music.
Adele is the latest in a long line of talented singers-songwriters. She hasn't really changed anything as far as I can tell, at least on the scale of Winehouse.

Imagine my surprise when what I thought to be someone who looked like Mahalia Jackson turned out to be a young, skinny, White, British drug addict….

I remember the first time I heard her. I was blown away by her range and couldn't understand a word she sang. I didn't know what to make of it but I liked the song ("Tears Dry On Their Own"). The doc "Amy" is worth a watch as well.
