For the dudes it comes down to sheer laziness.  For the ladies its effectively hiding their spanx in plain sight.  Plenty of females walking around in $150 Lululemon tights that want you to think they're heading to/from the gym but haven't exercised since they were forced to in grade school.

I hate The Right on Red light law. Especially if I'm in the lane with the green light and someone turns in front of you and you have to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting them.

I agree with you. What this people don’t realize is that they still have to yield to any other traffic.. That red light is a stop sign.
