I have a 1984 Toyota FJ45 in factory 464 Beige color.  I'm in the market for a soft top I'm trying to decide between the classic tan or the black.  Any opinions?

FJ Company's $200K FJ45 restore.  It's not mine obviously, but same color and wheel base.

          Here's a FJ43 (2ft shorter) in beige with a black top

For a motor that will never leave the showroom that light colour will look lovely, in real life however, the black for me 🙂

I think the black looks better. I would pick the beige only for temperature convenience, if I were to use the FJ45 in a sunny, hot place.

                The journey is the objective.

Jonathon from Icon takes his vehicles to the degree of amazing that everyone on this message board has come to expect from the places they're spending their hard earned (and found) money! Love his work, truly great stuff. Working on a gold bracelet for FJ trade out of him now!

@Clint_D @FormulaPfaff and I saw an Icon Bronco in Austin while we were there in November and it was a thing of true beauty.

I visit their website almost weekly…

Maybe one day They will start taking 100-Series for the ICON  treatment so I can send mine off 🙂

It's very odd to see an SUV that looks like a Phantom, same case with the Bentayga (that looks like a bastard Conti. GT). RR (or BMW) and Bentley (VW) should've designed them with more unique characteristics instead of simply putting a well-known front on an SUV chassis.

I usually like BMW products but the rolls suv feels like it’s late to the party.

                          Plus it’s hideous

Edit: well, i just watched 4 minutes of that video and now instantaneously want one…

As sedan sales are declining every luxurious/super sports car manufacturer is jumping on the SUV bandwagon (no pun intended): Bentley, RR, Lambo, Ferrari, Aston Martin etc.

I'd have preferred Bentley or Rolls Royce to have built a hybrid SUV / saloon, along the lines of Nick Ashley's Strange Rover.

i do feel the need for an SUV on roads like this and on coilovers…  😢 😢 😢

but nonetheless, i thoroughly enjoyed the driving. a little pain worth enduring..

A few weeks back I was asking about which color soft top for my '84 land cruiser.  I've decided go a different direction and turn my 'safari' raised roof hard top back into a 'normal' height stock roof.  When I purchased the rig about six years ago, it was FULL safari with a homemade camper setup in the back.  I've removed a lot of the extra safari stuff over the years, and updating the seating for eight (vs. two).

I'll soon be getting some body and paint work done and the roof fixed (after I cut out the roof rise and matched up the two pieces for the fiberglass guy).  I thought I share the before pics before I forget to take them.  First pic is right after I bought it, and the rest are the current stripped down condition.

That is the single handled best car ad I’ve ever seen.

Good thing I already love Land Rover as a brand, now I love them even more.
