I remember a couple of years ago they didn't ship abroad… If I recall that correctly...

Anyway @Alex - they DO ship to Switserland so if you want that guy to stop pestering you…  😉

It's very distressing when I see a mother telling her crying infant to shut up at the grocery store. Not cool  😠

It was an infant. She had him in one of those portable baby carriers inside the cart. I also saw a woman swearing at and scolding her child one time at Target….very loudly. Felt bad for the kid who couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old.

Even the six toed part?  You should have asked her if she could spare one  😛

I'm living in Australia on a visa that grants me permanent residence for as long as I want.

However, I need to get a Resident's Return Visa (RRV) to enter the country should I leave. My old one expired shortly after the Kanreki last year, and I was planning on applying for citizenship around about now instead.

My plans got scuppered, because I need to be in the US for a funeral at the end of next week. 😞

I phoned up immigration today to see what the processing time for an RRV would be, and was told that I could wait up to 47 days, nearly seven weeks. Oh, and I can't get back into Australia without one.

Given I've been in Australia long enough over the last few years to qualify for a five year visa, haven't committed any heinous crimes, and haven't changed my name or address, it should be possible to do it automatically.

So, I might be stuck overseas for six or seven weeks. Oh, look, Fish and Chips is on in eight weeks…

Seriously though immigration rules and application processing are a nightmare. You’d have thought we, as a civilisation, would have come further.

The chances are that the visa will be through in a week, that's the "75% are processed in this timeframe" timeline. But if there's a problem…

@neph93 it's an awful lot easier in the EU / EEA, or at least it will be for Brits up until sometime next year or whenever the transition period ends.
