Going to check out that ecover. I have had this with a few shirts. I too wash my neck routinely.  It is persperation, not dirt that makes the white discolored.

I apply sunscreen daily to keep my nearly albino like skin safe in the Texas sun. That causes all my collars to discolor, regardless of how often I bathe.  I have yet to develop a laundry routine to combat the issue.
