How about overdyeing the remaining pairs or a good portion of them?

It's a plan, but we'd have to ship them all back to Japan, remove the patches get them overdyed (that costs us USD25 per pair), put the patches back on, ship them back etc etc.  Once all that has been done, they owe us another $70 per pair or so…..

Suuuuuper stubborn, but I really like where these are headed after 5ish months worth of wear.

Also, @madmonday, that texture looks so damn good at this point…

Thanks guys. Still over a year and a half to go in the competition, so plenty of wearing still required for these.  😃

To IH & everyone in this thread - you guys are the best! All the questions, discussions, and the galore of pics & fades absolutely made me realize I needed to hop on the 18 oz denim and 555 cut train. Was kinda bummed it wasn’t in the 777 cut as I usually don’t go for high rise due to the fact that it looks like my body is being consumed by a pair of pants. But I really liked the leg measurements of the 555’s and since the 02 goes down to a 26W it was definitely meant to be!

                      Pre-wash

                      Post-wash

                      Thoughts pre-wash:
Right off the bat loved the details on this denim. But just by looking at them before slipping them on I was 70% made up in my mind that the rise wasn’t going to suit my frame well, but what a big slap to the face!!! I was amazed that the front rise didn’t go above my belly button as that’s the area where things usually go wrong. Anything above just looks funky monkey. So, that was a big sigh of relief!

After trying them on I really wanted to wear them that night (post-wash outfit taken in daylight) so I threw them in the washer and set it to a delicate warm wash and then blasted them on high heat & spin in the dryer. Hope that doesn’t make anyone cringe. The waist got the most shrinkage and fit great out of the dryer, which was what I was hoping for.

Overall, I LOVE the fit on these! They’re absolutely perfect!!! The only alteration they need is hemming. Looks like I’m a high rise fan after all.

Very nice indeed. They suit you well. As for washing machines and dryers, imho, they’re your jeans and you can do exactly as you please with them. Purists can cringe all they like.

Thanks @Haddtoo 555 @sabergirl & @neph93. Everything about these are just freakin’ sweet! I think the higher rise helps the pockets fall in a more aesthetically pleasing location.

Love all the fuzziness and those tiny cotton balls that pop up in random places. Not sure if there’s a term for that.

That’s a fair point too. I just taken my 2nd oldest IH to my seamstress for their third round of crotch repairs and thought the same thing. In the end I probably won’t wear them a whole load, but it will be nice to have them available.

@neph93 could she repair my crotch? Nothing to do with denim or material you understand, it's just that mine has had a battering over the years.

I'm still weighing up between the various 555 options or a pair of 14oz for the warmer months. The money is burning a hole. These look beautiful but the sizing isn't quite right for me on this model  😞

@Stuart.T  I would not recommend needle, thread or sewing machines for a battered crotch. Something more tender perhaps?  An Aloe Vera wash?

Nor would I recommend the 18oz denim for summer use. Unless it is a good sweat your crotch needs. It breathes the least of all IH denim with the possible exception of the UHR.

Thanks @neph93 . Useful information. I'm learning that there is not a simple correlation between denim weight and denim function.

Flagship 21oz is king if you want heavyweight denim combined with the benefits of air circulation. The 14oz denim I can’t comment on.

The new 14oz (142) utilises the same construction techniques as the 21oz so may have some of it’s airy properties. @Appfaff might be able to speak to that. He’s the only one who could at the moment.

The “N” denim, which is otherwise inexplicably underrated, does pretty well in the summer heat.

I can do 25oz in summer too. It’s warm but doesn’t bother me. I also hate wearing shorts so it has to be pretty unbearable for me to take off denim at all. I do avoid wearing UHR in the summer though. Much, much worse than 25oz.
