Episode 2 is on now. I’m relatively easily amused, so right now I’m happy with Cassidy’s one liners and the comedy violence.

“Crashing” on HBO is great. I love seeing all the comedians as themselves. Artie Langes true to life portrayal of himself and his addiction is potent. But the show is funny as balls

Yeah; 2 Dope Queens, Divorce and Crashing makes for a good weekend of comedy.

As a conscious decision or just not been on your radar? I'm the same with Game of Thrones though. Have no desire whatsoever to watch.

Sopranos is pretty good, although I admit my memories of the show are colored by the fact that I was living in New Jersey for three of its seasons, so it felt very accurate in replicating that environment.  I don't know if I'd like it as much without that connection.

The popularity of Seinfeld mystifies me.  I've tried to watch it, but it's just not funny.

@gaseousclay If you like this sort of thing (like I do), then if you haven't already seen it, see if you can find "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" , done 2 series back in 2010. Think ash v evil dead/buffy the vamp slayer. I found it recently, not much makes me laugh out loud but some of this was hilarious.

Seinfeld is just good fun. It’s quite dated at this point but still charming.( I’d argue that Curb is probably the better show, though.)

Thanks for the words of caution. As a result I lowered expectations and wasn’t as bothered as I might have been by the lull that occurs in episodes 3-5.

The start of ep.6 (battle with the seraphim) was fantastic though. Tarantino-like levels of cinematic genius. It’s frustratingly slow at times, no doubt. But when it’s good, it’s grand.

It is dated, but it's where Larry David really got his chops. It's stupid, sometimes absurdist (which I love) and has strong well played characters. George's parents, Kramer, Newman…all are absurd, but still funny. It really was a tv trailblazer in the earlier 90s and imo changed the sitcom format forever (for better or worse we'd never have had Friends without Seinfield). On top of the Jerry is a legendary stand up that most stand ups cite as massively influential.

I agree that Curb holds up better now, but for a capsule of 90s life (check out all the Nike tennis shoes!) It is darn good.

That’s why Curb is better. David is a complete A-hole, but everyone else in the show knows it.

Read all the comic books myself. So far it’s one of the better adaptions for me. I find the production values satisfactory, but the story telling is a little sedate.
