Saw Springsteen on Broadway last night. Best 2 hours I’ve spent in a long time. Quite funny at times.

Bet that was spectacular, and quite the spectacle [emoji41]

I usually set goals for myself based On My age. When I turned 28, my goal was to learn to enjoy whiskey without cola, and coffee without sugar before I turned 29. It didn’t take long for me to acquire a taste for both.  I spent my 29th year loathing the fact that I was leaving my 20s behind, and my goals were purely career related, which lead to a decline in my health (even when you own a gym, you still have to convince yourself to workout at 8pm, by yourself, after you have have been coaching since 5:30am…) so I set a new goal for 2018... run the BMW (Dallas) White Rock Marathon in December, and do so faster than when I did in 2010.

The other goal I set for myself was to learn more, and based on suggestions from business people I look up to, I began reading (well listening lol) to “Let My People Go Surfing.”

Today I made good on my commitment to myself and enjoyed 2.5 miles while listening to the book in the cool winter morning.

If anyone in the TX area has an interest in running the marathon with me in December (it’s also my birthday weekend, so it will probably be a party the night after the race), PM me and help hold me accountable.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

PS. I need new running shoes, any suggestions?

Listening to books while running is the shite! I run through many good books and i wouldn't have read one of them without my running routine. My goal is a half marathon till march and if this goes well i'll try for a full at the end of the year. so if i was in your area i would join but germany is a bit out of reach 😉

for my next shoe i myself am leaning towards hoka one one, super comfy, lightweight but also very stable and robust.

When my time comes I want to be buried face down. That way whoever doesn’t like me can kiss my ass.

I've been wearing Mizunos for years and I love them.  I have trail shoes by Inov-8 that I like a lot, too.

That said, your best approach would be to go to a running store that can do a gait analysis and make recommendations based on that.  The best shoe is the one that matches you and your needs, regardless of brand.

not that i'm one to share personal stuff but this outcome made me feel really relieved and happy, but i'm finally getting joint custody after the judge made a statement that they're always unlikely to rule in favour of sole custody..

I missed this the other day, but that's good news @louisbosco.

Having seen my brother go through a messy divorce and custody battle, I know how stressful this can be.

Thanks Guys - I tried the Hoka, but didn’t feel very stable in them. I got the Altra Torrin 3.0

In 2011 when I moved back to Alabama from Dallas, I literally bought like 7 pairs of running shoes since there wasn’t a shop in town.

I realized my First Gen Brooks Green Silence were hurting my knees yesterday. Hoping to check the Altras out in the morning.

@Appfaff Altra's are great. Start slowly and keep the runs short at first if you are not used to running in zero drop shoes. Read "Born to Run"  by Chritopher McDougall, if you haven't. Will get you excited to run again and make you think differently about running and what our bodies have evolved to do.

Thanks for the advice @Sage954 - luckily, I have run almost exclusively I. newton, inov-8, and Low drop shoes since 2010 or so. While I haven’t ran much in the last 5-7 years, I’m
                                Excited to get started back.

Born to Run was what got me into Distance and Ultra running back in 2009 and spurned me to go from this:

Thanks guys - I’m just starting slow and getting after it.

My goal is running 5x per week, 3 CrossFit workouts and a stretching/yoga day each week.  I doubt I’ll lose a ton of weight, but weirder things have happened. Last time I ran this specific marathon I had busted up IT bands, so if I can stay injury free, I should be good to go, plus I have a decent duration before the event in December.

@madmonday - luckily the 633 are quite undersized in the waist lol [emoji23]

I've just gotten back to running as well… This is week 2 now.

Right now I'm just doing 1 miles speed runs... No real reason as to why, aside from it's fun to see the quick gains. I plan to slowly progress to longer runs, up to 3 miles. I have no interest in running marathons, so I don't see much value in my running any further than that.
