I included the Dr. Pepper because I never drink soda but McDonalds has really good DP…maybe they put drugs in that as well.

maybe it's the copious amounts of high fructose corn syrup? I'd like to keep my teeth so I usually don't touch soda. maybe a root beer once in awhile but that's it

Don't they do that in NYC with soda?  I know they were proposing it but not sure if anything went through.

Norway just introduced a sugar tax on candy, quite a hefty one too … 20% I think.

They already are, alcohol is taxed to hell. There is a push every year to tax alcohol to the point of it being unattainable. Doesn't get anywhere, but it's pretty interesting how people react when the government tries to take away something that you care about. It's cool to tax the shit out of something you don't care about, but when it's something you're passionate about, then it's a very different story…

There has also been a push for a "luxury tax". Meaning if an item reaches a certain price, it would be subject to additional taxes.

Again, didn't get anywhere, but people's attitudes about taxing behaviour they don't agree with sure does change when it affects them…

If you have an opinion how someone has an unhealthy lifestyle, or are for the government installing some law for public safety, you should

                        1. know CPR and have a training update every two years.
                        2. know how to apply a tourniquet
                        3. carry a tourniquet

                        Or you are a hypocrite.

Take the first steps forward for public health/public safety, don't be a derp and expect someone else to do it for you.

My argument for tourniquets are this: if you are so concerned about getting assaulted you would ban guns/knives, you should know and be prepared if something bad happens. For the pocket real estate of one of these giant ass wallets, you could be prepared to save a life.

I know three people with kids with clotting disorders, and two adults with clotting disorders. I work with no less than than a dozen people with heart conditions. Seriously, take ownership if you feel passionately about something instead of enabling a politician.

instead of using a tourniquet i can just use my heavy a$$ belt and save my pocket space as that would defo mess up my fades.

                                  jeez, what are you thinking

additionally, your public safety view is related to violence inflicted on others while the public safety a few folks were discussing (okay piling on really) was about the harm people inflict on themselves with "bad diets"

@madmonday Problem with a belt is you have to hold the belt in place the whole time. The holes don't go far enough to fit around an arm.

I'm just not a fan of the government telling me what choices I should or should not be making to that degree. My comment about public safety and the government is more related to the government getitng involved in my business.

I wouldn't cry a tear if alcohol was banned outright. I drink maybe twice a year at this point, and it's just as a social thing. Between angry drunks assualting people and drunk driving, worth it.

u right plus getting blood on my belt would suck and i saw a few for under $10 US, will ask the emt folks by my gig what they carry around and what would be best for a civilian like myself to keep in the car.  do you have a defibrillator as well?  by you r track record of being over prepared i would not be surprised (you know me dougie, but i'll write no dig is being taken so it's clear)

and again you are presenting a different public health issue to oppose the previous un-pop, but it's cool to me.  makes for witty banter

ban alcohol  😢 😢  can not believe you wrote those words

No joke, I thought about getting a AED for the car too. So no offense 😉

As for the previous unpop, I'll try to get back on track. Sure, tax the shit out of unhealthy foods in the name of public health. Also ban alcohol. Alcohol related illness is a serious problem, in addition to drunk driving, and it has limited health benefits that can be offset with mandatory exercise. Tax the shit out of anyone that can't run a consistent 8 minute mile for three miles. Also establish standards of weight resistance that people must be able to push/pull/lift. Osteoporosis is a big problem. Plus other health benefits for resistance training.

I keep the equipment to make holes in people, so I keep the equipment to plug holes in people. In the end, it's about saving lives, all around. The latter is more important equipment than the former in my opinion.
