It's a sipper. Really boozy (no shit) and syrupy. Not sure what to think really

Bourbon: because living in Kentucky just makes you want to drink

As if you have another choice?  😉 It’s rum drinks or red stripe

Jerk chicken or pork. Fried fish or curry goat. Rice and peas, cabbage. Patties l Maybe some
          Festival are the options..
          But it’s good

          Maybe so. Maybe not

Even alledged speciality beer bars serve stout too cold. Morons. I need to try some of that CBS though.

Too true. At home I chill it a bit and then let it warm up. The taste really comes out as it warms.

@Appfaff that certainly looks like a decent weekends work [emoji1434]

Today: my first IPA from these guys. Normally stick with their stouts and porters. Funny how despite the different style it is still recognisably de Molen. Sticky, low carb, lots of pine.

This weekend was nuts. I flew out to the East coast to drink lambic for the weekend with my old college roommate and some other new friends. Friday night was a few samples from Wrecking Bar Brewing (2 great, one ok) and 1 from Burial with dinner, then onto mostly lambic.

Tilquin 10/11 gueuze, 12/13 gueuze, 16/17 gueuze, 15/16 quetsche prunes de namur.
Boon Mariage Parfait sticker 2007 (bottled 2010)
                          Black Project Dreamland
Bonus 10/11 the pic because the dudes next to us got one too. Hah.
10/11 is only a blend of 1 and 2 year lambic, but it blew everything else away. Massively full, complex body, with a spectacular blue cheese funk. Yes please. 12/13, 16/17, and Quetsche weren't close, despite being great. Same with Mariage parfait. Dreamland, I didn't care much about. Just a decent American lambic style that was very much not special.

Saturday, I got out for a 12.2 mile run in fresh snow, ran a few errands, then we sampled beer from 3 pm until 2 am. It was insane.
                          From oldest to newest:
                          De Neve Gueuze 1989
                          De Cam Lambiek 2003
Cantillon Iris Vintage 2006 (bottled 2008)
                          3 Floyds Dark Lord 2008
                          Cantillon Fou Foune 2010
                          3 Fonteinen Golden Blend 2011
                          Cantillon Vigneronne 2012
Jester King Spon Mourvedre and Sangiovese 2016
                          Cantillon Blabaer 2017
Mazurt Got No Dime Barleywine (not sure of the year or which BA, as it had no label)

De cam 03 and Iris 06 were the biggest knockouts. Both opened well and were straight fire after couple hours of aeration. Fou still had a ton of apricot despite the age, abd it also had a very interesting diacetyl taste (think buttered popcorn). Blabaer and Jester King were a bit boring in comparison (lol), Vig needed one more year for the sweet spot (recent 11 killed this 12), and, surprisingly, De Neve was still sour as hell. That was obviously oxidized, but it mostly picked up a nice sherry/port vibe. Super good still. Dark Lord was also a bit past prime, but it was drinking well still. Golden Blend has never been my favorite, but this was getting better at this age. Mazurt was killer. Can't wait for them to be selling bottles… Finished the last few hours playing VR games, which was a blast. Pretty fun Fri/Sat, though I'm glad to be back in town to sleep in my own bed after so much excess for 2 days. 🤣
Not pictured: Superstition Straw Berry White. I don't drink tons of mead, but I could tell this one was special. Damn.

Haha. That might be hard to find. My friend had it from a raffle to raise money for a brewer's widow. I think the original owner was sitting on it forever. Actually, I've seen some 2012s around lately. Apparently, more of them recently got released? Originally, I assumed it was a reuse of a label, but I've confirmed that it's almost certainly the 2012 release. Good thing I got 5. 😛

To further integrate this collab we will be doing 50/50 split of our Triple Crossing house yeast and Foam Brewers House yeast. This DIPA will be aggressively hopped with Citra and Galaxy to round it out."
