I think the prequels were better than the sequel, and both are inferior to Rogue.
let me understand this. you're of the opinion that "attack of
jar jar binksclones." was better than force awakens? wait a minute… is that you george lucas? you old bouffanted trickster. -
The Porg, or whatever the hell you call it, doesn't bother me. It's a Star Wars movie and I expect child-friendly bits and pieces to be sprinkled throughout every movie, with the exception of Rogue One. The prequels were complete and utter garbage so i'm grateful that there's new blood steering the SW franchise into a new direction.
I agree about the prequels, and I'm happy for the new blood being involved. The first two movies Disney has put out have been pretty solid, but if this damn hamster is the next Jar Jar I'm going to have an aneurysm. If it just makes a brief appearance, fine. But seriously. It's a hamster.
Also, I agree that the originals had child-friendly bits, but they've been panned by most fans from the beginning. I don't really consider this franchise to be a child-friendly franchise overall. It doesn't need to be an R-rated movie to be a good movie, and no child over the age of 8 or so is going to miss the cheezy characters. It's just pandering to children at the expense of good movie making, and most children who would enjoy the rest of the movie will pick up on that. I know I did when I saw the originals.

At the end of the day, anything SW related will be all about marketing and what kind of toys they can churn out. I'm sure Disney is looking to shift a gazillion Porg stuffed animals this x-mas and that likely won't change in the foreseeable future. The Porg is going for cute, whereas, Jar Jar was an offensive caricature like so many of Lucas' other characters from the prequels. I think Rogue One hit all the right spots precisely because it wasn't a kids movie but rather a war movie. As long as Disney shifts the narrative every once in awhile and doesn't try to make everything PG-13 then I think they'll continue to do well. The Force Awakens was ok but didn't do anything for me to make me want to watch it a second time. Infinitely better than Lucas' prequels but kind of a cookie cutter blockbuster film.

IV - VI, and compelling characters. Yes, there were a few holes here and there, and yes the dialogues were shitty.
The sequel has 0 innovation (Death Star, again, X-wings, again, Tie Fighters, again, main plot is about destroying the death star, again), the continuation of the empire makes no sense whatsoever, and the emotional high note relies on (spoiler) ….
... killing the most cherished of the original characters. Also, the death star ray going through hyperspace is not consistent with the (fantasy) science underpinning all the previous movies.

Oh George, you slay me.

I don't agree about the quality of the prequels, but the man's not wrong about why The Force Awakens sucked.

I just don’t agree. That’s ok though.

Just watched Brawl in cell block 99 with Vince Vaughn. Well worth a viewing and here's the trailer . . . .

I liked Vince Vaughn in True Detective season 2. He's much better at drama than comedy imo

You're joking, right?.. Sure: he was fed the most in(s)ane lines by Pizzolatto, but he was absolutely horrible… I remember everyone agreeing with that whilst it was airing as well...

I disagree. I think everybody was expecting a repeat of season 1, hence the poor reviews of season 2. Vaughn did an exceptional job as a 'bad guy' who was morally ambiguous. His arc was interesting to me and I felt bad for his character's demise. Curious to see what season 3 brings to the table.

Yeah that was an unfair end for him.
