Thanks. Yes, we will be around that way for it, woo hoo. Will add to the list and see if we can get down there for it.

Out of nowhere, it seems that our next trip will be to Japan. My wife happened to find a good price on tickets & 10 minutes later we booked.

        2 adults 40s, 2 girls 3 & 7.

We arrive into Tokyo on the 6th of April and fly out of Tokyo on the 18th. And thats all we have planned/confirmed at the moment.

Well obviously want to break it down into something like three 4 day trips vs 12 days of Tokyo.

So….Any thoughts? What would you do with 2 weeks in Japan?

        Thanks in advance.

You'd have to hit up Kyoto on a day trip. Mt Fuji on another. That's the obvious day trips out of the way.

Kyoto really can be 2-3 days itself, and then you can get to Osaka and other places from there.

I'd suggest 3 days in Kyoto, spend the rest in Tokyo.

More later, need to pack to get to Brisbane this way. Owe a guy an e-mail with suggestions also, so will get stuff together.

              Okay, So let's go.

Akihabara is a must see at some point, it's "Electric Town" and Maid Cafe central over there.

Shibuya for it's famous crossing, just outside the JR station there. Also 109 for the most cutting edge women's fashion.
Lots of good bars in the area also.

              UOBEI SUSHI - Shibuya Tokyo
              24-8, 1F, Leisure Plaza Bld., Udagawa-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, 150-0042

Is in the area for the most crazy sushi train you'll ever experience

Cup Noodle Museum in Yokohama is worth a day trip if into noodles at all.

Head to Ueno JR station for the markets, and the most tight density of Denim shops anywhere. Hinoya and others there, 4 shops from memory.

I'd skip Harajuku, but it's still on everyone's lists. There's no Girls doing dress up there any more. Meiji Shrine is very much so worth visiting if you're in the area of Harajuku.

Yakitori Alley Shinjuku is worth a visit for a dinner, close to station and amazing food/experiences.

Any recommendations for hotels (or just what neighborhoods to stay in) for Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka?

Sorry for the thread revival, I will be in Asia from April to mid May of next year so thinking about going to Japan for a week or so.  Is there a big difference in price of jeans in Japan compared to the UK.

What area is best to stay in that is central to it all bars night life and a bit of shopping during the day don't mind bit of a walk.

If anyone's got recommendations for eating/drinking (or any other cool stuff to do) in Tokyo, Osaka, and/or Kyoto, I'd love to hear 'em! Especially looking for non-touristy (or not super touristy but still cool for foreigners) beer bars.

Osaka, I recommend an American owned Rock bar called "Cherry Bomb" in Shinsaibashi, near Namba.

I imagine if you're going to Osaka, you'll hit up Namba, because the new IH store is close by, along with Hinoya, and a couple of other stops I can't name off the top of my head after a few beers.

Thanks. Unfortunately we'll miss taco Tuesday but as we probably will be in Namba I'll check it out.

That's terrible, because the fish tacos are amazing!

Is Iron Heart Hachioji the only branch near Tokyo or is a IH Shop direct in Tokyo? Don’t know if I wanna go to Hachioji again in my next trip. It was a fun bus ride tho…

                                  Places I liked in Tokyo:
                                  Iron Heart Hachioji
                                  Full Count Harajuku
                                  Warehouse Ebisu
                                  Junky Special Shinjuku
                                  Supreme/Neighborhood Harajuku
All the Vintage Shops in Harajuku

3x Hinoya and 610 Americana in Ueno are ok, too crowded for my liking.

Japanese Baseball is amazing! So much co-ordination, activity, and general buzz from the crowd. 3.5 hours of non-stop 'things' for players and runs etc. Goes SO far beyond the rally cap/sweep traditions.

Worth going to for anyone in Japan up for an experience, don't even need to like the game! (but it'll help).

http://www.japanball.com/tickets.htm is where I got our tickets from, delivered to the hotel.

The Seibu Lions were my favorite team back in the early to mid-80’s. My mom hated my Lions baseball cap for some reason and always hid it from me. Last time I went to a Japanese ball game was in 2000 or thereabouts. I think my ex and I saw the Yomiuri Giants and the Chunichi Dragons I think

Going to Japan for the first time with trips to Osaka and Kyoto. Already have some shopping spots planned out but hoping for some recommendations for anything else. Food, attractions, etc. I understand it's easily to look stuff up but I'd love to hear your opinions on what's worth it or what's not. Great appreciated.

Also does the IH stores have different stock then what's available to IHUK's website? Curious.

Anyone happen to know of any good vintage / second hand stores that carry Japanese clothing? When I went years ago I found most were littered with vintage Americana / Harley tees.
