I have a 67 Submariner that just stopped, Rolex want a staggering £710 for a service. Anyone know anyone? There is someone near me but he wants £600 and 3 months.
When did everything get so expensive?

I was looking into this and I think the problem comes if you need parts, as Rolex only sell to authorised dealers.

if you're in the uk try Ocean Jewellers, Brighton.

I can get it done for about GBP350 plus VAT by the man who builds the Pinion/Iron Heart watches…...He has just rebuilt Haraki's submariner and yes, it needed parts.....

All - how difficult / expensive is it to buy a Hulk submariner?

                          ADs?

I asked that question because I went into the main Rolex shop in Paris last week and they told me that they're never able to keep them in inventory, that they sell as soon as they receive them. It's completely possible they were eff'ing with me of course.

Maybe they're more popular in Paris. In the States, I routinely see a Hulk in the display.

I just found this business card:

                              Gina Pan Kirst

The last couple times I walked in there they have had green subs (I'm in there at least once a year). They're stateside though.

Granted it isnt a watch, but finding the right alarm clock has been an obsession of mine since our old one bit the dust. I've been using my Casio waveceptor but it is battery powered (which I dont trust), doesnt illuminate without pressing the snooze, and has a really horrible alarm.

I finally found a suitable replacement by Braun that is sleek, compact, has a battery backup, and sounds pleasant. Plus you tap anywhere on the top of the clock to snooze it.

I only use an alarm clock when I am on holiday - true story….

                                      How are the tones?

The ones that are too jarring gives me a migraine I have to live with for the rest of the day.

I've found my iPhone works best since not having a headache for the rest of the day is more important than anything else a desk clock can offer me.

It is a little sharper sounding than I'd prefer but nothing close to the shrill beep of the Casio. The Casio is still a neat clock that looks like a massive Gshock, just not as user friendly.
