@steelworker, it doesn't get much darker and grittier than 'Nil by Mouth'. Kathy Burke is immense in that movie.

and Sexy Beast! what an absolute belter. Ben kingsly is brilliant and a proper loon.So many great scenes but the standout for me is when he's on the plane having a fag  😃 😃

Watched 'Jawbone' a couple of days ago. Dark and gritty British movie, starring Ray Winston. Good movie with a nice score too.

You don't know Ray Winstone until you've seen Scum, now that is dark and gritty.

A British film I would highly recommend is Dead Mans Shoes, by local (to me) director Shane Meadows. It was filmed about 15 miles away from where I live, very, very fucked up.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

Seen Deadmans shoes a few times, a great movie and Paddy is brilliant.

….....On another note "wheres your tool, what fucking tool......this fucking tool"... well said Raymond.

If you want some light hearted humour featuring Ray....'Final Cut' and 'Love honour and Obey'.

For some very odd reason I hadn't seen SEXY BEAST before. Completely fucking brilliant, you fat cunts.  😃

Bit more serious and "nouveau noir" than SB, but do check out THE LIMEY lads!..

just finished watching The Girl With All The Gifts and The Expendables. TGWATG was ok for a zombie movie. I at least thought the concept was interesting enough for that genre. The Expendables was just good blow 'em up action goodness.

Might even re-visit one of my old favourites: PATHS OF GLORY (Kubrick)…

Just walked of out "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" as Jules was so bored. I could have stayed until the end but for that reason only. Not one of Bessons best [emoji107]

So bored and the woman next to me had some weird sniffing affliction, the film was so tedious that I ended up counting the seconds in between sniffs.. before walking out [emoji1361]

that's unfortunate. I love Besson's work, but a lot of the reviews I had read gave Valerian similar marks, namely that is sucked.

You love Besson's work?.. The guy'd probably make a decent porn flick, but that's about it… I do love The Transporter and Taxi, but as a director, he's just not A-grade material innit...
