What does it do?

It sends out rhythmic pulses in time with the random voltages the Turing machine spits out. I've been using it to trigger two drum modules but it can be used to trigger anything you like really. Modular music fun! @neph93

Very cool. I assumed it was something audio related because of the cables, etc, but my reference point for a Turing Machine was either the theoretical computer postulated by the man himself, or Gibson's Neuromancer.

@neph93 It's a modular synthesiser I'm slowly building and spending far too much money on.

Yeah, the Turing machine is based on his algorithm for his original machine. It just puts out random voltages which can be locked into a sequence of varying length and pitch which I've been running through a quantizer that forces the randomness into a musical scale. Wish I understood the mathematics involved but I'd just make myself feel bad if I tried.

Just looked up that Neuromancer novel… looks interesting! I'll have to add it to my ever growing list.
