I started wearing my 634's about a week and a half ago. I'm reading about all the stretch that will occur with this model. the pants are already slightly big in the waist. I wear my belt as tight as I can to keep them
In place. They're not in danger of falling down but I never had trouble buttoning them. I'm worried I ordered toobig and they will stretch too much. Hemmed already. Oh well. Belt will be kept tight as hell

Ah yes… the 21oz rookie mistake. I did that myself with my very first pair. Still wore the shit out of them though. Belt is a good plan. Enjoy!

Do you guys notice if these jeans stretch in the back rise at all? I have a few selvedge jeans that stretch in the seat top To bottom and I hate it. Opinions?

        Maybe so. Maybe not

Today I received my first pair of IH jeans. I chose 634S because I didn't want to go too slim on my skinny legs. They feel great! Size 32. One size smaller then waist measurement.

My friend, what kind of boots are those?

so I'm 20 wears into my 634s and i love them. Ive worn them every day for 16 hours except for one. i am shocked at how comfortable they are. im used to some serious break in time with much lighter denims. I believe they have stretched a little bit but its not very noticeable.i have two jobs and my second job is as a server and a bartender. i can work up a good sweat on the busy shifts so i doubt i can wear these through the Connecticut summer while at work. not that i sweat more in them than others, more because i really want to go as long as i can with out washing them. the humidity here can be stifling and i can sweat with the best of them. got my first compliment on them the other day and i went into a 15 minute semi-monlogue on iron heart and denim. luckily my cousin is a patient dude who likes jeans.

I've been wearing my tag 34s on and off since January and, while the waist definitely stretched out such that I always wear a belt, I haven't experienced any real stretching in the top block around the pockets or the upper thigh. Granted I have larger thighs and these have been fairly snug from the beginning in that area - I was hoping they would stretch out.

The front pockets are a bit of a challenge getting anything in/out of them. I usually like to have a pocket knife clipped inside the front right pocket but it's damn near impossible to get my hand in that pocket while doing so - makes for some awkward two-handed maneuvering to get to my change/lighter/etc. or whatever else may be in there.

Has this been anyone else's experience? Maybe just stuff the pockets with rocks overnight each evening and hope they stretch…

Thigh stretch and top block stretch is hard to come by which is basically a function of the amount of material involved. The jeans waist band is a continuous strip of fabric measuring around 35" (on a W34 for example). The thigh measures a lot less so there is proportionally a lot less stretch.

I've heard this complaint before, and think I've read somewhere that Haraki-san likes a narrow pocket opening, or at least doesn't consider big openings important as when you ride a bike, stuff in your pockets gets in the way. The back pockets on IH jeans are widely spaced for the same reason, so wallets and so forth are to the side of where your butt sits on the bike. I only ever carry a pocket knife on a clip in my front pocket so it never bothers me. Best solution, buy one of these: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/cutnsewn/ihe-19.html Man-bags for the win  😎

you're sure that's right? It's probably more like 35" around

So after 2 months of every day wear (10-12 hrs a day) I had to wash these bad boys. They were Funked up.
I used @Filthy25ozJunkie 's fels naptha method. They came out great and clean and I have some fading going on. Whiskers, front pocket wallet etc.. I have some combs forming on the back but I'm not taking them off to take pics. Sneakers are the Vans Vachetta Old Skools.

That pair is my very first Iron Heart purchase.  Seven years old at this point, though the effective wear is more like 3-4 years for various reasons (weight gain, inability to commit, etc.).  They've been washed 10-15 times, been through the dryer nearly as often. Sent once to Indigo Proof for repair, probably going to go back to her in another year or so for additional work.  Still my favorite pair of jeans of all time.
