You jogged my memory of why I hesitated moving forward with the Wilderness backpack at the time. It certainly felt hefty and I wondered if the joke would get old really quickly after a few outings. Thanks for the tip about the salt and pepper version and I will check them out too.

Both are looking great Veloaudio. The bexar is a real stunner! If you have any interest, I have a Bexar tote I'd let go. BTW, still loving your SDR?

Also, I dont remember if I've shared this before but this is my Tanner's Alley 1960's briefcase. I found it in a little shop in Morgantown, WV about 6 years ago and had to have it. Since then, I've used it as my edc work bag. It is aging well and is a big compliment grabber.

Sorry for the low light pics!

SDR D3 has been my go to travel bag for almost a year. No regrets. I never have to gate check it and I throw it around without worrying about damage. No wheels luggage is the way to go.

I'm able to pack light enough on work trips so I can usually pack the Bexar in the SDR but I'm ok carrying them both on the same shoulder. ~40L is plenty of space for me to pack what I need on a personal trip, including my IH shirts.

The Bexar will be three in June and it just keeps getting better with age. I also don't worry about throwing it around. I have only treated the leather a few times. It has the perfect combo of organization/separation inside with some extra space for a snack, headphones, and all my cords/peripherals. I can even fit a packable jacket or vest if I want. It will be a good holdover until I pull the trigger on a Bole briefcase [emoji3]

I'm after a good canvas tote, something with short handles to carry & then a shoulder strap too. Mainly for everyday use, any recommendations? I've had a filson, but don't fancy another one. Thanks.

Hi all, I decided to order the Tanner Goods Wilderness rucksack in Obsidian canvas last weekend from makers themselves as they were running a 20% discount offer during that weekend. The cost of shipping it to the U.K. via UPS took up virtually all of the discount and there were import duties and tax to pay on top. Even with all of these added costs, purchasing the rucksack directly from Tanner Goods was easily the most economical route for me and it took five working days from ordering to arrival which I reckon isn't too bad at all.

As for the rucksack, the workmanship is top notch and the style works for me. This will be my daily bag so I'll have plenty of time to figure out its pros and cons (for me, at least) and its durability.

I flicked through a lot of this thread looking for ideas on bags.
I needed something extremely hard wearing, relatively 'multi purpose', not to big & not too small.
I finally settled on a leather 'farriers bag'.
Having purchased a gun slip & several belts from the same place, I had no worries about quality & ruggedness.
I was however unsure about the size….. as much as there were measurements listed, it was still difficult to picture in my head.
Eventually, I went ahead & ordered & the size worked out perfectly.
I think if I use this bag seven days a week, I will struggle to wear it out in my lifetime! At £150, I'm more than happy.
The pictures have my 1930's Ironheart Wesco's in to give a perspective.
The hobble belt came from the same place as the bag, I'm sure that would prevent a buffalo from wandering off too!

                      Andy.

I'm vaguely looking at rucksacks again, and have found a few interesting options that haven't been mentioned in these parts.

I really like the South2 West8 Trek Pack, and the Nigel Cabourn Mountain Rucksack is a similar design. I really like basic packs, but it's got a decidedly primitive harness.

The Cotopaxi Nazca 24L Travel Pack might be too small for extended trips, but I'm wanting to downsize my carry-on to cut weight. It opens in half like a suitcase, and has had a good review and blog writeup.

The Fjallraven Travel Pack is a similar design to the Nazca, in that it has a clamshell opening, but is a bit larger at around 35 litres. There's a matching Travel Toiletry Bag that fits into a compartment behind the zip on the front. It looks a clever system.

The Kletterwerks Drei Zip is a cross between one of the Mystery Ranch tri-zip packs, and the Flip pack.

A great pack indeed! I also have the foliage, but ideally wanted the black! It's actually pretty versatile.

Is it the latest version (they changed the way the shoulder straps were incorporated into the frame)?

I ain't got time to bleed.

This backpack is part of the range, along with a tote and messenger bag, and will be available at The Brown Buffalo on 18th April. I really like the look of it, because it's simple. Most things seem over designed to me these days.

Bagjack Sniper Bag. I dont much get into the tech/tacticool stuff that much but I wanted a different smallish day bag and this one caught my eye. It's small but holds quite a bit with everything being quickly accessible. Truthfully, I am surprised how much organization they crammed into a bag this size. Quality is as you'd expect from Bagjack and is top notch.

I apologize in advance about the picture quality, but I hope this helps you get an idea of how it's constructed. First, the bag has four waterproof YKK zips: one on the top which can reach all panels, one on the front, and two for the hand warmer. From the molle side inward, the first layer is a slighly elevated, padded slot for a small tablet (fits my kindle and supposedly fits an Ipod mini):

The next slot reaches the bottom of the bag and has a coated cordura slot for a notebook/ wallet/ phone:

Next is a zippered spot that holds the hand warmer (which is easily removable). This slot can also hold a slimmer water bottle, although make sure the lid is on tight. I didnt [emoji849] and this compartment became a hydration bladder. Luckily none of my electronics got wet:

Lastly there is another slot with an organization panel for pens, a slim phone or ipod, etc. This pocket is accessible through the top zip or front zip:

Lastly, a gratuitous muff shot [emoji1]:

Let me know if you need any other pics or angles.
