So this is what is happening.

Many US/Canadian credit cards get stopped by the credit card company as they think that the purchase of denim from the UK is a fraudulent transaction.

Unfortunately ZenCart (our shopping cart) deals with this problem in the most pathetic way imagineable, it gets the code for "fraudulent transaction" from PayPal and zeroes out the credit card information that you have so painstakingly entered.  This is bad enough, but Zen does not even bother to pop up a message saying what the problem is.  ZenCardt are showing fuck all interest in this (in my view bug) despite that fact that it makes our site and Zen look like a bunch of frickin amateurs.

I am in the process of moving away from PayPal as the credit card processor (we will obviously still take PayPal), we are hoping that the new credit card processor will send Zen a code that it handles elegantly.

In the meantime if you do have this problem. when you have extracted your forehead from the PC screen, please phone your credit card company and ask for the restriction to be lifted.

      A mortally embarrassed, Giles

Personally, I prefer that the cc company does that. Someone in France maxed out my credit card once for "consultation services"

Since then, I either use Paypal for international orders or I just call the CC company. It's just not worth the hassle of someone stealing your money like that

FYI: the credit card company waived the charges, but it took a couple weeks

I have no problems with the Credit Card company doing that, what I have a problem with is Zen assuming that the customer has a crystal ball and therefore does not need some advice as to what the issue is.  I get an email from Zen everytime this happens (so they know there is a problem - so you think they could pop up a message to the customer).  It pains me to see some customers trying 6 or 7 times to pay for an order.  If I catch it happening I email or phone the customer, but it is a shit way to handle a paying customer and I lose more sleep over this than anything else…..

Perhaps adding a "WARNING" to the checkout page would be of assistance?

ie: "If you are having difficulties checking out and you are an international customer, please check with your credit card company to see if you have a hold on international purchases"

Peter has just reminded me that we tralked about doing this.  I siad no because I think it looks shitty and pitiful, but on balance it appears to be the only solution we have.  I will ask him to do it…..G

When do jeans stop bleeding? I really want to wear some lighter colored suede shoes that wouldn't look good with raw denim stains. More specifically when will IH-301's stop bleeding 😛 I've heard the tips about taping your hem but i'd really rather not.

Does slubbiness = more roughness  YES

And does more roughness or abrasion = contrasty fades YES

So would slubby = contrasty fades?  YES

And if so, can it be assumed that the new 18oz denim will fade faster than the usual 21 oz denim? IT WILL FADE WITH MORE CONTRAST, BUT THE UNSTRESSED/UN-ABRADED/UNEXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS AREAS WILL STAY DARK

                            Just a random thought/ question.

od's are seriously awesome simon.  you will be happy, especially if you aren't super into black jeans.  the indigo tint is there all the time.    i wish my 301 od's had fit better because i loved the denim and the color.  i want to get another pair of od's this year at some point which leads me to this question….

is there a timeframe of when the od busters will be released?  i am on the fence about 666, busters, or 634s in od.

PUT DOWN THAT STARBUCKS, PICK UP THAT GNARBUCKS!!

                                  • didn't like the OD
                                  • LOVED the superb fit so bought the indigo version

to me, od is like next level denim. I just love how the denim looks always slick and clean - same token I absolutely enjoy the speed of fading you get when wearing a regular pair of indigos.

Riffblaster - I know the od Busters are ordered - so maybe they will hit the Castle around March …but you know how they say - "it will happen when it happens"

I just have the opposite of opinion there, Beats… Had the feeling they always looked dirty (they more than probably just were)... Indigo is better at camouflaging dirt, I guess...

Mainly, though, I treated them wrong from the start... Machinewashing to try and shrink them for example... What was I thinking?.. Anyway, sticking to indigo for 2k11... And very few handwashes...  😘

overdye is like a toddler. you have to stick with them and be patient, but as time progresses the denim lightens up and out pops the shades of blue that you never knew existed. and unlike indigo where you can readily and easily check progress with the fading, overdye only shows when it is ready to be seen. just hit it hard dude. as long as you like the cut, the denim and denim treatment will speak for themselves.
