@Mustafa911 I own 7 pairs of Iron Heart jeans (and at least 10 of their shirts) and they are most definitely worth the money. Everything from the quality of the materials, to the durability of the construction, and the painstaking care that goes into making them is why they cost so much.

If you want great fades I suggest the 25 oz denim. It fades fast and has the most amazing tate-ochi  (verticle falling) of any denim I've seen and is luxuriously soft over time. I am really keen on the 21 oz denim because it is so silky-smooth and soft. It has a sheen to it than gives it a very soft hand. It is a very stubborn fader though. They are super comfy.

What makes this "yenim" so special is the density and weight of the fabric. It was very difficult to make. Just like Appfaf was saying.

If you have an interest in any Iron Heart products please send me a message and I will give you advice about it or answer any questions you have. I am sure you will love these if you get them. Just be sure to follow the care instructions because you'll get better results if you do.

To add to what @Appfaff said you are getting a totally original fabric that to my knowledge has never been done before using this currency pulp.  Like some of the commentary on other threads on these boards have mentioned you are getting an 18 oz. jean that feels like a 14 oz. jean which also doesn't really exist elsewhere.  The Yen part of the Yenim is also super strong so I would imagine these will have a very long life as well.  Since the weft is also more fine than standard cotton you get a pseudo double indigo warp/weft effect even though the weft is not indigo dyed it is just very fine.

These are also very rare and will never be made again by IH so I suspect in a few years these will be highly coveted to the point that the $450 price tag will seem like a bargain.

Personally I do not think these are the IH jeans for the buyer who doesn't have a lot of experience with IH jeans.  These to me feel like the IH pair a connoisseur will be picking up because they love the brand and also are looking for something very fresh and different.  However, like most other IH pieces you can't really go wrong regardless of the pair you choose.

perfect points @BloodnThunder - these really are the upper end of luxury when it comes to Japanese denim. I hope one day I will find myself in a pair.

I do find it funny how I, too, took a deep breath at the price tag, but then I remembered back to 2009-2010 when nearly ALL IH jeans were $400+ - I believe the SExIH07 were $450 as well, and some of the other collabs were close to $500 if I remember correctly. We are all so spoiled now with the 14oz, 17oz and extremely reasonable pricing on the flagship 21oz, its pretty easy to slip into a new pair of amazing quality jeans from IH.

We wanted to make 500 pairs (in total of both styles) and made enough weft to produce 500 pairs.  Because of the phenomenal production problems, we end up with about 210 pairs.  We have to pay for the 1400 yards of selvedge fabric needed to make 500 pairs whether it is useable or not.  Yes you're right USD450 is a lot to drop on a pair of jeans, but as a company we are losing on every pair we sell.  If USD450 is too rich, I understand, so don't buy them…..

Back then the yen was stronger, about 80 to the dollar. Today, it's 115 to the dollar, about a 30% drop. Obviously, that's not the only factor in cost, but it's a significant one.

These could easily be $600 jeans, just on that difference.

As usual my timing is poor, really wanted a pair of these, I hope those lucky enough to pick them up will share some awesome pics in the coming years.

@Giles I know this is a brand new fabric, but do you have a good guess as to how stretchy it would be? More similar to the 18oz/ the 14oz?

I've not seen a company more in tune with their customers and this much interaction. Especially in how they communicate what they are making and leave it so open for feedback and critique.

Ok, but the main question remains: What's the look and feel of these f*§%#°g yenim?
I do not understand ass-o-lutley nothing. 14oz weighing like 18oz? 18oz weighing like 14oz? And that cost as if they were made of human pulp?

There's only one way to find out: pay $450!
Or remain in the dark forever…  😉

You can really see how much finer the weft is on the Yenim.

. "Yenim" - the warp is made from Japanese currency pulp, so an obvious nickname!
. This highly experimental denim utilizes the Warp from our 18oz denim and uses a Weft made from paper currency pulp, which is half the diameter of a cotton yarn, but twice as strong.

                                          @Giles.
I'm a tad confused, (which isn't hard). But it looks to me, looking at the description page, that both the warp & the weft are utilising the Japanese currency pulp. Is this correct? I thought it was going to be either the warp or the weft. Or have I  misunderstood? Thanks.
