I should add it's 6€/ big bottle for the Oud beersel, and 2 for the Export stout… The geuze was stored in a box, horizontally, so can't try it right away, unfortunately... But will do so this weekend...

Do beer shops in Belgium seriously make the mistake of storing beer horizontally?!

In this case, and with most geuzes, the boxes come in from the brewery that way… I think all geuze breweries here do store their bottles flat...

I of course don't take bottles from the shelves… Too much light and heat... I always try and score the bottles from unopened boxes/ covered cases/... on the floor.

Huh… go figure. I guess with geuze it's not such a big deal as with the bottle formented, over yeasted stuff when you want the sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Still would have imagined that it's a recipe for disaster when it comes to the stuff with high carbonisation.

Bought two bottles, shared with me dad just now… It was properly phenomenal... Two years old and the carbonation was still absolutely MAD, taste had evolved beautifully, Dolle yeast shining through... Just stellar...

Going back on Wednesday for the other two cases... Giles: one has your name on it  🙂

It was HOT. But the aftertaste and gas was truly offensive.

Fortunately. Its only available at the brewery restaurant now. In boulder, co.

Quite tasty, pretty hoppy but very smooth. Love the can too.

I should do a count, but I think 19/20 of the last DM beers I had were great… This is no exception.

Stop reading… Seriously: you'll die of jealousy...

So I went back... Knowing there were two more cases of the Export Stout... Price: 2.19€/ bottle*.

I took one case and went to the cash register and told the lady that the beers expired feb 2017... "Oh - I'll give you a 50% discount…" So I went for the other case as well… Then she forgot to charge me for the two De Dolle Brouwers cases... Value (empty): 4.5€... So, in short: I paid 42.4€ for two crates, minus 9€ for the empty cases... Comes to 0.83€/ bottle  😃

Oh: and I also scored some big bottles of Tripel Karmeliet (exp 7/2017), Chimay Tripel (2012), and Petrus Aged pale (exp 01/2017)...

                                            • In the attachment you can see how a crate is 40€ (so 2€/ bottle), and a separate bottle (my dad bought 4 because he wasn't paying attention) cost 2.19€...
