I really like the brown stitching over the black leather, perfect for a work boot or an everyday pair for beating around

I need them badly for work, so put out the extra for rush. That means I'll wait 5 weeks as opposed to 11…but it's still a wait lol

The double midsoles on my custom boss have developed a split, one on each boot. I'm guessing it's a result of road salt etc drying the leather out (I'm otherwise careful to dry them at normal cellar temp  and remove mud etc). I feel I should try to seal the cracks to prevent more water coming in. Any advice?

The only thing I can think of is pounding that heel in to see if it brings those back together. If we sand the edges it might get rid of the gap on the midsoles.

They are glued and sewn all the way through, so they definitely won't come apart:)!

Thanks! @Giles  has suggested a good oiling (which they are in need of anyway) to heal the leather and make it water retardant again. I was wondering whether I should stuff the gap with epoxy resin before doing this? Any thoughts?

I am sure there is something you could use to seal them. I would only put on a small amount though. It will more than likely change the color of the midsole though.

Thanks Chris. Colour change is no problem, part of the process. Oiling would have been necessary at some point anyway. I'll do that first and see how they respond. If the gap persists then epoxy resin should seal it. Appreciate you chipping in.

What you're saying is, you don't anticipate it being a big problem?

I've rinsed the midsoles with a white vinegar/water solution to get any residual salt out and a good stuffing with mink oil seems to have helped matters some. I'll keep an eye on them.

Also what thread color that is?

and if this leather option can be requested when building a boot by them? I want to build something like this boot with just a couple modifications.
