Random Rants

You have no idea. For awhile, we were getting a ton of posts asking "OMG! I got my jeans wet, did I ruin them?!?" and "should I get special hangers for my jeans?" and my personal favorite "how do i treat the leather patch so it doesn't explode into a shower of sparks and a cloud of smoke?" (ok, that last one was embellished, but only a little)
On the flip side of things, at one point someone got puked on and they refused to wash their jeans.
One of my favorite posts is from Mega, when he pointed out that people get raw denim to reflect their lifestyle yet they insist on having the hygiene of a turn of the century miner to get kewl fadez.
I've become very cynical after being a moderator for so many years.
That being said, destroying IH gear in the wash is definitely possible. @DougNg, didn't you wreck your cotton duck jacket? I also think @hectic (ex-moderator) destroyed his superblack shirt.
The washing instructions that are accompanied with IH purchases were taken from one of my posts. I've learned a few things over the years and have a few more tips to share. I'll try to post them in the next few weeks.

"Washing your jeans in the ocean" is another favourite of mine.

For reasons of my wife not wanting other washing and the washing machine turning blue, I throw mine in the bath with whatever detergent we have available. I do this when my jeans are dirty.

Agreed to all the above. I've had people ask me, "I've never soaked a denim shirt. How do you do it?". I usually say 'the same way you would jeans' but I really want to say 'does your family tree fork?'
-
"no, no. it's a sin to wash your denim. go a full 2 years without washing"

For awhile I avoided the washing machine too for this reason, but I've found that a follow up cycle with dirty shop rags and "dog stuff" that I don't care about if it gets stained blue along with Oxi Clean is a good way to clean out the machine.

For what it's worth, every community that is focused on high end versions of daily items has it's fair share of obsessives.
I'm on a firearms forum where the members will buy handguns because they're "indestructable" and are carried by Navy SEALs, but they go off the rails when their gun gets a scratch on it.

what's a gun without scratches? if it gets banged up, get a bit of kiwi and apply it. that's how we used to do it back in the army after every major exercise.

I must admit, I've washed all my IH jeans, the way I've washed any other jeans I've ever owned. I don't soak them, I just throw them in my front loading washer, use detergent and softener as usual. I might not wash them as often though.

Missed my delivery from fedex today, for some reason they didn't get someone else in my building to sign for it. Nearest pick up point is 50 minutes away and I can't change the bleeding address

I've ( @Madame Buttonfly ) found that out twice before…....
