I would check out David Espinoza

      http://www.espinozabootmaker.com

Thanks for that recommendation, I had the chance to visit his shop and will be getting a pair from him on my next trip to the US. We found the last that suits my feet best. 🙂

      @Appfaff:

Very nice boots - I like the hybrid toe - nice balance between round / snip and square

I was wondering what that toe was, as it didn't seem to fit any of the toes of the boots I saw at boot barns. It's called a french toe apparently.

And this company seems to be making something similar:

While we're on it, anybody has any experience with Champion Attitude Boot Co -CABOOTS?
They certainly seem to have an impressive selection 🙂

Overall, their boots are pretty good quality for the price.  I have a few pairs from them.  I'm hesitant to recommend them, however, since the last couple of times I ordered, a few things went wrong.  They were very reasonable about fixing things, but the experience soured me a bit on them.  That said, it's been over five years since my last purchase, so they may have ironed out the kinks in their QC by now.

Thanks for the extra pictures, by the way. 😉

I am thinking I need to find a way to include a visit to Texas next time I get sent to the US, it would be so much fun!

@Red Devil - a texas trip is a must - great food, cool scenery, fantastic music and, of course, a wide selection of western style boots. I'm from Fort Worth, so I have to suggest visiting the Stockyards. Swing by Leddy's to get some custom boots made, sip a margarita in the Joe Ts garden and enjoy a garlic stuffed filet from Lonesome dove…

Almost makes me want to drive the 700 miles home now and do it all myself haha

Thanks @Appfaff, I will definitely ask for advice on where to go and what to do if I can make that trip happen!

Now that you live in San Antonio, Mike, you really should make a trip to Little's Boot Company.  They have a really impressive showroom filled with custom pairs they've done over the years.  It's kinda overwhelming, actually.

Gonna try to go next week. Need a pr of black/black cherry. :). Or black roughout.

Not nearly as detailed as some of the boots in this post but I love my Red Wing 1155's. very comfortable and for my first pair of cowboy boots I think they are well priced.

@deanclean - love the RW Pecos style boots.  Are those the American version?  I have tried them on in the RW store and can agree that they are super comfy and a great blend of western and workwear.

Yes these are made in USA. They weren't available where I live in Canada so drove almost 3 hours to the states to go to a redwing store to get them. Worth the trip. The border agent was a little confused as why I would do that, but we had a laugh!

I bought these boots as a last hurrah before moving away from Texas and heading to Alabama more than nearly 6 years ago. The roads were iced over, but I was leaving the next day so I went to the Justin factory and bought them direct.

They have served me well and continue to perform and last great.  I've been super surprised at how long the leather sole has lasted and although I swore I was always a round or snip toe fan, these square toe Justin boots are beyond comfortable.

Yep, Paul Bond makes quality boots.  Bond himself was something of a legend; he started making boots while he was working as a professional rodeo cowboy and just kept doing it.  He went in to work most every day up into his 80s.  I'm not familiar with who's been running things since his death in 2012, though.
