      one word… crispy!

perfect fit but tight top button - (not waist).  afraid to hot soak so if/when i soak...cold.

debate: wear em for a bit, then soak -or- soak and go... discuss.

      obligitory pics forthcoming.

They're eventually going to shrink all the way regardless, so all cold-soaking will do is buy you time. If you're worried about the waist shrinking too much with a hot soak, you could always take a long hot shower while wearing them. Might as well get as much of  the shrink over with as possible at the beginning. Plus showering in a brand new pair of raw denim jeans is a rite of passage IMHO.

Picked up my blue bag today. With both arms and a firm grip, bending with the knees not the back. You see, it contained a pair if these and an IHSH-76. Not only heavy but large and inflexible. Like carrying fekkin' plasterboard 😃

Strangely, these are my first pair of true raw denim, having only had sanforized stuff until now.

I'm documenting the process so here's the pre soak fit:

And here's the post soak bathtub:

They're in the washing machine now. Shrinkage report in the next post.

Congrats! The pre-soak fit is already good and should be perfect after washing.

                  The results are in.

I had these hemmed to 33.5" by IHUK before soaking. I followed the IH official instructions for soaking/washing (with one cock up in that I soaked them inside out, can't see that making a difference, @Giles ?). In short, a 2 hour soak in lukewarm water, followed by 30C wash with 400rpm spin, then air dry.

                  Measurements:
                  Pre-soak/Post-soak
                  Waist: 37"/35.8"
                  Inseam: 33.3"/31.9"
                  Thigh: 13.1"/12.9"

The post soak/wash fit is good. The waist is actually just comfortable so could stand to be tighter initially, given that they'll stretch some. Ditto the thigh. The leg could stand to be an inch shorter although they will rise when the honeycombs form I guess.

The question is, have I got all the shrinkage out, or is it worth doing a hotter wash to make sure?

(BTW, I can't be bothered with shit, poorly lit iphone mirror selfies and will post fit pics when I get a photographer on the job).

I have that feeling too. 40C and 600 RPM? And I'm right in thinking this won't affect the evolution of the denim all that much?

Gave them a second wash at 40C and 600rpm. More shrinkage attained, when they settle and stretch they'll be a decent relaxed fit. Some very small areas of marbling, I guess caused by pre wash creases. They are barely noticeable and the denim's slubby uneven nature is far more prevalent.

                              Measurements:

I said no shite fit pics but it had to be done. I'm a little unsure about the final result. If this was a post stretch fit then OK, but they're still a little long in the leg and too comfy in the waist and thigh for new jeans. But it's marginal. So, keep or flip, people? Your honest answers are appreciated.

They are a little over an inch too long when compared to my SBG BB's which my seamstress sorted for me. I'm tempted to leave them as is and cuff them to wear with my Wesco's when they arrive. I'm not averse to a bit of stacking either. Is the UHR meaningfully harder to hem than the 21oz?

If you want to lose more length, give 'em a very hot (hottest possible out the tap) soak for a couple of hours. I managed to shrink the inseam by ~ 3 inches this way.
