Got a tracking number, now I'm just (im)patiently waiting on their arrival.
Should be sometime next week, maybe a little delay with the holiday.

This is what you get to look forward to.  Mine are goodyear welted though.

Looks great! The raw cord stole was one of the big selling points for me I think, suits the boot well.
I still don't fully understand the stitch down vs good year welt argument but regardless, good looking boot.
Still impatiently waiting for my pair, hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday.

I think that a lot of the stitchdown vs Goodyear argument is down to Styleforum disappearing up their own posteriors. There are arguments that the former is more durable than the latter, but I've never had a welt fail on any of my footwear, and it's probably not a problem for someone with thirty pairs of boots in rotation. 🙂

A Goodyear welt changes the look of the boot a bit, which might be an issue for some people. It also affords some benefits to Viberg, in particular it makes it easier to work with certain leathers.

Figured this is what it really amounted to.
I only own two pairs of nice boots and they're both GYW'd Alden, no real issues myself. ::)

Yeah, the Viberg stitch-down vs. GYW argument makes for a lot of boring reading. People are struggling to accept it because really it's being done to achieve greater productivity and output as the brand grows. Many would rather that the company stays as it has done over the past five years and remains our little secret. That said, I do love the traditional style of a Northwestern work boot.

Thanks everyone!  I don't think I would have known mine were goodyear welt until someone pointed out that the store I bought them from has the goodyear version, compared to the stitchdown that is sold from Berg.com.  As long as it doesn't affect longevity and quality, I honestly couldn't really care.  But if I had to pick one or the other, I'd probably go stitchdown as that's classic Viberg.

The GYW vs. Stitchdown debate is a bunch of pretentious cork-sniffing. I love my GYW Vibergs and actually like how the welt contrasts against the Color 8 CXL. If I bought another pair I'd probably go stitchdown though for variety's sake.

I feel like I've read that GYW has better longevity because stitchdown construction can lead to tearing in the resoling process, but I can't remember for sure.

And here they are! I'm very happy with these boots, I ended up ordering an 11.5 in the 2045 boondockers (half a size down from by brannock size) and they feel really nice. There's a little bit of extra room in the toes but my feet aren't slipping around or anything like that. Really nice presentation with the packaging and the way they were shipped. The first thing I noticed about these was how nice they smelled coming out of the box.  😉
Ordered on 5/25, received today 6/1. Slight delay due to the holiday but no complaints. These definitely feel more like a workboot compared to the other nice boots I have (two pairs of Aldens) and just more rugged all around. I can tell the raw cord sole is going to take some breaking in, it's quite stiff initially.
I can tell this won't be my last pair of Viberg boots, now the only question that remains is which laces should I use?  😘

Thanks for the kind words guys, I wore them today for the first time. About 8 hours or so on my feet and didn't really feel any discomfort while breaking them in. Looking forward to wearing these daily!
