This entirely depends on your preference in sole.  For the most part you will be able to get one of their uppers on top of their range of midsoles. I tend to always recommend steering clear of exposed air soles.  They tend to pop which then leaves you with a pair of shoes that makes a fart noise with every step.  In my opinion they also look clunky.

As far as uppers I will always recommend flyknit.  Start there and work down.  It is easily the best advancement in running/athletic shoes I have experienced.

As far as midsoles, if you prefer a more natural/flexible feel then I would look at the Free Flyknit line (the numbers 3.0, 4.0, etc. speak to the level of support.  Lower numbers are less support, higher = more).

If you need more support I'd go with the Lunar line.  Still has the flyknit upper but with a midsole built for running legitimate miles, which would suit using for walking a lot as well.  I have put 80-90+ miles/week running on this line with no injury issues and have done many 20+ mile runs without any aches or hot spots.  The life is also very strong with the flyknit upper and soles.  Have multiple pairs with over 1,000 miles on each pair.

The benefit of either of the above, as well as many other styles, is if they don't make a color you care for the shoes are part of the Nike ID collection and can be customized a number of ways.

            There's my two cents.

For absolute comfort you cannot beat Roshe Runs, Fly Knits or for the slightly cheaper alternative some of the Fly Wire running Shoes. You can also get the Fly Wires in the ACG line, which means they are waterproof and have a decent traction sole.

Cheers @BloodnThunder for your sound advice. Me and @Black Orchid are registered for half marathon and 10K respectively, to raise money for charity, so with our increase in weekly miles the advice I've cherry picked is super helpful.

Though to stay on topic… In a past life I was partial to the Air Jordan Retro 1 Mid Phat Premier in red. 😞

Nike-ology is a subject too vast for me. I think I'll stay with my NB collection still for a while…
