Makr bag - a FAQ for nerds and alcies…
Q: is there enough room for a standard 400 page A4 video game guide?..
A: yes. It will hold several.
Q: is there enough room in the front pocket for a bottle of wine?..
A: yes, there's room for two actually.
Q: is there enough room for me Wall-E flashlight in the side pocket?..
A: yes.
Q: is there enough room for a beer, or a 17oz can if I go crazy and not carry the Wall-E flashlight that day?..
A: yes.
So, if your idea of a great day is to have some beers at your mate's, play Metal Gear Solid, have some wine, and crawl home with a flashlight between your teeth, this is probably the bag for you.

Nice one Giles. I have one of their earlier backpacks and it is holding up well. I cant say breaking in well since that will probably take another couple of years. I am glad you did a collab with them, they definitely fit in well with IH.

Been looking at a new bag, the GR-1 has taken my interest and the more I look at it the more I want it.
I can't really go wrong with it, can I?

Topo Designs have just launched the Mountain Daypack, which is a similar design to the GR1.
The Span Daypack is also a zip front style, but a touch smaller.
Topo's bags seem pretty well made. I don't know how they compared to Goruck's build quality, but they're using similar materials so would expect a similar level of durability. Besides, we're not (generally) hanging out in war zones, so our bags are not that mission critical.

GR1 is a great bag (so is the GR2 BTW). My only complaint is that they are heavy. However, they are definitely bombproof.
