I'm ashamed to say I got a similar deal last year, but the buckle is kind of flaking on mine! Hope you have better luck..!

That's also happened to mine, more pronounced than @Peterpiper

I must admit, I thought it was the natural characteristic of the metal, even though I don't find it appealing.  I forgot about this, as I haven't been using the belt in 6 months, because I got the IHB-05 that I prefer instead.

EDIT: Now with pictures, I hope they're viewable.

The buckle of my black Garrison looks like brandnew - after ca. 1 year of constant wearing ..
Just now, very eagerly for the new brown belt.
