No they are not the exact same denim.  The weft is darker…They'll stretch, but I can only guess how much, and I'd say about an inch....

Why is the patch sewn all the way around? I like how the patch is shown on all my other pairs. Is this going to be a new thing? Especially with the red lettering it's pretty badass and should be seen. That and it helps keep my belt in place. Just asking…

Because the lighter weight denim is not substantial enough to take the normal thick patch and this leather is not man enough to cope with having a belt stressing it out…

I've been slumming it in non-IH jeans the last few weeks as it's been so damn hot, I'm hoping these are a bit cooler than the 21oz.

Got my pair today. Thanks Giles and Crew. Best fitting 634. They have a little more rise than normal. Very comfortable and the denim is Iron Heart all the way. Much better than the earlier version of this…much darker.

Is the weave similar in tightness to the 18 oz? Or is it a new animal entirely. I really like the 633N measurements.

@Anesthetist - i got the 301N for xmas, but had to return them since they were too small, and didnt go up to a 38.  In terms of weave compared to the 18oz, they are an entirely different animal. The 17N is very soft and supple while the 18oz was like sandpaper (from what I remember form my old 555-02.  The 17N have a really great color though, super deep - I liken it to the color of the 19L fabric, although I didn't hold the two next to each other.  The fabric definately does not have the heft I'm used to with the 19L, 21oz or 23oz UHR, but it's a beautiful fabric and was thinking of getting the 633 as well for the summer.

The fabric is very tightly woven like all Iron Heart except for the 21oz. The 18oz is unsanforized so after wash it should definitely heavier and stiffer than the 17oz. 17 oz is where good denim really starts. I don't like much below that weight.
