I received both colors today and everyone is right, these ROCK! The red is definitely "vintage"-ish… i get it now after holding it in person. HEAVY flannel, these are more like jackets! haha Very slim fitting in my typical size but G is right, i wouldnt suggest sizing up at all.

So I wear a 42 in TFH saw tooth denim shirt and i prefer a little bit of a slim look. Should i go with a M or L in the black?

It would make sense to compare the measurements.. I would say it´s safe to go for the same size..42 or XL

          We can do anything

I did compare the measurements and the L looks like it would be probably the choice for me thanks tho.

I would also suggest a L.  But note that FH and IH have very different cuts.  FH is larger in the shoulders and narrower in the stomach than IH.

Thanks thats exactly why I was asking because the Iron heart shirts have small shoulders and bigger chests, but flathead has a smaller chest and bigger shoulders.  Though, I think if I go with the L I should be good so I am ordering my first Iron Heart shift now! Thanks DrPat.

I do wish that IH shirts were a little more tapered like FH though because i have a smaller waist 😕

Yeah, FH sizing is weird.  I take a XL in IH but a 44 FH shirt don't quite fit me.  FYI - FH is making a few shirts in size 46 this winter.  The shoulders are 22 inches and the chest at 46 inches, but the body is quite slimmed.  IMHO 46 inches chest should be at most 20 inches at the shoulder.

I don't really get the sizing on Flat Head shirts. The shoulder measurements all ways seems too wide for the chest size. That is not problem with IH.

And I have just noticed that Giles has sold out all the red IHSH-32's in my size. What a bummer.

I also find the FH shoulders way too wide.  It seems like the shirts are made for body builders.

IH has a much more forgiving cut and fits people with narrow shoulder (like myself) as well as those with beer bellies.

I've had issues with an FH shirt as well… If I size down on IH shirts, they fit perfectly... If I'd size down on an FH shirt to try and make up for the wide shoulders, it wouldn't be long enough... So yeah... IH it is  😘

Anyone give this a wash yet?  Shrinkage expected?  I've been beating the crap out of my black one so it's coming due.

Looking at SE website, it says "0.5 inches everywhere", so shrinkage is minimal.  When in doubt, cold/hand wash.

In regards to shrinking, it doesn't matter if you hand or machine wash.  It's the water temperature and drying temperature that's important.

I sometimes will use my washer on the spin cycle to get rid of some of the water out of my IH stuff so it'll dry faster, and I notice a little more shrinking than if I just let it drip

I suspect this has to do with the weight of the wet fabric stretching itself out on a hanger as it dries

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

Advice please. I'd love to buy a black one of these (if/when available). I'm 5'7", have a 37" chest and am 18" s2s. Am I a size S (my usual size) or a M in this shirt?
