Thanks guys! Maybe I'll wear them with a cuff for a while before I decide to chop them. It makes me nervous talking about hamming a $400 pair of pants [emoji51]

      Hi, Brock.

Just to echo the wisdom already laid down here, these do need hemming. It's a standard job to do on premium denim that only comes in one length. It's also a relatively simple job for a decent tailor/seamstress. Nothing to worry about.  The denim will also settle and soften and that will calm the indigo sea a bit. I would also consider a warm soak to eliminate shrinkage. Do this before hemming.

If you really feel the leg opening is too wide for you then tapering is a drastic step and a harder job. I believe that if you choose this, you should find a denim specialist for it. There's been a number of discussions on this forum about it, so recommendations should be easy to find.

That being said, heavily tailoring cuts is also something that's a bit controversial. Personally, I think that while hemming $400 jeans is normal, tapering them is too radical and drastic. Haraki-san and Giles work like artists on the designs and the result is their vision. Modifying the cut just means this is the wrong cut for you, and you're fucking with what was intended. Obviously they are your jeans and it's entirely up to you what you do with them. If it was me and I wasn't happy with the cut, I'd put them up for sale and re-invest the proceeds in the cut I wanted, before tapering what is intended to be a slim-straight cut.

        Wow Neph, well stated!
Thanks everybody for the info and the advice! I'm definitely not unhappy with the fit by any means! I'm just not used to a straight leg cut, YET. I've already fallen in love with this denim after only two days and there is no way I can part with it so selling is out of the question [emoji51] I'm going to wear them and be happy with them! Most likely hem them after the fabric softens up a bit.

I hope I didn't offend Giles or Hiraki-San or anyone else for that matter by complaining about my fit. Don't get me wrong I love these pants and they will be my constant companion from here on out!  Atleast until December 1st when those 666SII show up for the world tour.

        Cheers y'all

Don't worry about that, dude.  What I wrote was my two cents. Like how I see things.  I know of long time forum members who taper 666 cuts. When I said "controversial" I mean it's been discussed and people don't agree on it. At the end of the day it's totally up to you.

Glad you love the denim. I do too. Be cool to compare evo after a while.

I'm very partial to a single cuff and the massive stacks that occur unhemmed. 🙂 but it is all a matter of preference. I've tried hemming, double cuffs, and now this single cuff with big stacks. There's no sun today, but the fades that are happening on the stacks are going to be epic.

@Brock  Nah, cuff them and were the f-heck out of them! If they drag on the ground a lot they certainly will wear out there. I soaked the cuffs on my pair to try and shrink them smaller. And… it doesn't work. I've worn my pair EVERYDAY cuffed since July 1st, and they aren't blowing out, cracking, crocking, tearing… you name it. No soaks or washes necessary.

@sabergirl has my first pair (that I soaked the crap out of) and they still are gonna wear out on the bottoms of the cuffs. You'll notice threads wearing out on the inseam of the cuff even before the cuff would wear through on the bottom. Unless you walk on the backs of them or they drag on the ground.

I have to respectfully disagree. What the artist intended is a silly notion, at least in my mind, when it is a garment to be worn and everyone has a different body.

Obviously people should do as they please. I would never change a cut personally.  I love the idea of finding the perfect cut for my body type and for my part I'm paying for Haraki-san's designs as much as anything else. I'm not wearing the famous 666 cut anymore if I've changed the entire concept of the design from slim straight to slim tapered. If I want a high rise, fitted top block and a taper I'd find a manufacturer with that design in their portfolio.

But that's just me and I admit to liking the conceit of artist's intent and authentic design. Some people chop and channel classic cars, others wouldn't dream of it.
