@Winchy thanks. I'm going to be sculpting it in 3D today.

I'm a total boot noob! I wear Adi Dasslers finest three stripes whenever I can, then I've got an old pair of generic steel caps for working in and an old pair of donated hunting boots for hiking/cabin trips and so on. The only casual boots I've got is a pair of black, lined Clarks that cost about $200 that I've had for autumn/winter use the last three years.
I'm painfully aware that I need to up my boot game. I'm not quite ready to splurge $800 on some of the badassery available here. I'm just not sure I love boots that much (yet). So I'm thinking something more "entry level" that cost around $400, like Red Wings or Wolverines. They need to be able to tackle rain and not be useless in ice and snow. Lining isn't a must as woollen socks are boss.
Here's the question: Based on the above, which boots should I buy?

Everyone who is into this kinda gear should of owned a pair of Red Wings at least once. I have numerous pairs and can't complain. Go for a pair.

$400 for redwings?
Figure out sizing & what u like then get someone to proxy for you or buy lightly used on ebay or grailed
-
Yeah don't pay $400 for a pair for Christs sake.

I hear ya
. Are Wolverines worth the extra? Read some pretty damning things about them on the dedicated thread here.

Never had a pair. What size are you? Will keep a eye out. Always see Redwings in the sales. Never paid full price for a pair and I had 6.

Glad to proxy, just figure out sizing & save the extra money on flowers for the wife with a decent dinner or a day trip with the kiddies.

Cheers guys, that's very decent of you both. I have it on good authority that I'm a UK 10/US 11 in Red Wings. Shout out if you see anything.

I have redwings and wolverine addisons. Go for redwings ( oxblood iron rangers or ice cutters are a good shout imo).
I also like the look of look of the danner made for japan boots but not owned a pair yet!

Beside the common RW's and Wolverine Boots, you could also check Thorogood or Chippewa Boots for this price range.

Anyone heard from @mclaincausey recently? I sent him a PM and haven't heard back. I see he hasn't been on the forum in a while. I hope all is well.

So.. In my stockroom/ level floor cellar, I have no light… No electricity either, everything's been cut (to prevent from tenants using the built-in airco I assume)...
I've bought a LED searchlight but I need something that provides much more light... This is kinda cool but not sufficent either: http://www.light11.nl/Marset/FollowMe.html
Anyone have any ideas here?.. It's a small room, under 10m²…
I use these during blackouts

Indeed, typically North Americans see more shrinkage than Europeans who see more shrinkage than Japanese.
There's a joke in there somewhere.
