I'm going to chime in with my opinion on the 25oz denim one more time… I know everyone has a different opinion on soaking. But, I'd advise against soaking the 25 oz denim. I never soaked my current pair and am going on month 4 of everyday/all day wear. The denim gets soft without soaking, and the range of colors/ fade seems to be more beautiful than in the past when I soaked. The stacks, combs , and creases are certainly more pronounced, more dramatic than my 2 old pairs.

I always thought soaking was mandatory, but I noticed @swiss-jeansfreak pair, and he never soaked his. And, his pair are freaking awesome!!

My advice is: don't soak the 25oz denim. I don't think I'll be able to go without ever washing these ever. But, I am going to try and keep this pair far away from water as long as I can.

Love the waterless approach! Already beginning to look good, keep at it  🙂

Keep your jeans on–-and let nothing come in between you and the denim !

I'd go 35 also, as long as the thigh measurement will fit. Mine fit snugly as well, but not uncomfortably so, and like @Filthy25ozJunkie says, the waist will stretch. I disagree about the no soaking thing though, just because when spending this much on a pair of jeans I want to take every precaution that they will last as long as they possibly can with no crotch blowouts, and I think soaking helps in this regard.

@xtcclassic I gave my pair a spot crotch soak with boiling hot water in a mister the first week 3x times. But, unless you're one of this bicycle riding types, I think the denim is more than capable of not blowing out. I hit the combs with a mister every time they need a stiffening up. 😉

My recent experience with this denim is that it shrinks significantly in hot water, with agitation. I buy things roomy now, hot wash them to get the shrinkage out of the way, and then have no worries. (Your balls will be happy with that advice.)

@BloodnThunder @xtcclassic @den213 I'm doing my research on these at the moment. Did you guys that soaked notice any shrinkage? As I understand it there's a little but I've heard some say not really..

finally got my measurements thinking about getting these.. quick question though is it necessary to soak these before wear? how bad is the shrinkage compared to the measurements after soak?

It is better to, but not 100% necessary.  Hardly any shrinkage….

                      @Giles:

You'll get a 32 to 33.5 eventually, but they will be bloody uncomfortable to start with.  The shrink back a little with a wash, but stretch right back out again….

After trawling all the 25oz threads and have a jolly good think, I'm going with the tagged 35". My usual policy for sanforised denim is no soak, wear hard until they're too dirty or smelly for company, then wash a 30 degrees with very low spin; and I think that should serve me well here. While an initial hot soak/wash would make these work, I think the stretch would be too much after a couple of months for a good fit long term.

Of course all that might go to hell and that case I'll see y'all in the sales threads  😉

@501/IH You are so right. These stretch a lot. I sized down on my current pair of 25 XHS MBBs and the fit is most excellent now. The waist stretched from a 32 to a 35.5. 🙂

This is especially what makes me think 35 is the way for me to go. I notice others have said 2" stretch is do-able. I got 2" stretch off my 666 ducks which shouldn't stretch that much at all. I'll need these to end up at around 36.5. So I should be ok…

@neph93 I like where your head's at.  I have gone no soak and have not washed, with about 3 months of wear (rotated with two other pairs).  Hoping to get a lot more mileage out of them before I need to soak/wash.  I think the 35" is the proper choice.

If I get to 4 months before a wash I'm lucky. Mine always get stinky by then.

I haven't been wearing these much due to summer (broke down and wore my Dickie's shorts the majority of the time) but fall has started and I've been wearing them almost daily. They stretched a little and I lost some weight. I'm very happy with the fit and I plan on buying more 666 fits.

Just picked up mine. Just got them on and done up at the third attempt. This is my day so far:

                                          0830 - pick up 666XHS

0900 - get home again, try to put them on. They go on in such a way that I think I've sized thighs correctly. Yes! Then panic ensues as there seems to be no way on earth the waist is right. 35" is trim, the denim is tough and I've put on a bit of weight, but I'm cursing as these are obviously too small. Feck!  I realise I'm almost late for work, so I get my fat, depressed arse into a well worn pair of 555's. I take my 666XHS to work, planning to measure them and generally fret over them at lunch.

1130 - I use my entire 30 min lunch break in the disabled toilets at work (also known as my photo studio - there are no disabled students where I work and I'm on the 5th floor without an elevator so this is not a jackass thing to do, I promise). I establish that there is hope as I manage to do up the top button. I didn't do up the other buttons first. I can't get them done up. No. Bloody. Chance. I end up being late for my lesson because of the time it takes me to get the top button undone again…

1600 - At home again. With borderline superhuman determination, and starting with the bottom button this time, I use about ten minutes to get every button done up. Turns out the top button was the easiest. But I manage it. I cheer! I laugh! I wake up the baby...

1611 - Pain in fingers as blood returns to them.

1612 - Pain in my balls

1614 - Pain in my hips

1621 - Really.... my balls. Sweet mother of god, my balls...

                                          1625 - I love my jeans.

1635 - I take my seat at the computer (my balls take out a contract on my life) to write my first novel. It's going to be called...... "50 Shades of Indigo".
