Man, I wanted to go out to Jester King yesterday and pick up a bottle of Fen Tao but didn't make it out there.
      Nice pickups Chris!

I didn't know it, but Julie's friend lives about 10 minutes from the brewery.  We stopped in after the party, just so I could buy a few bottles.  I'd like to go back and actually look around, drink something on draft, maybe relax a while and get a pizza from the place next door.  No telling when we'll be back in Austin, though.

And yeah, I'm excited about my two bottles of Fen Tao…

It's really a great way to spend the day, Texas hill country and tons of great beer. And the pizza at Stanley's is pretty good too. My girlfriend always scoffs at going because every time I have a weekend off that's how I want to spend it!

Mmmm I do love a good barleywine. Of late I have had a few, Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot, Arcadia Cereal Killer, and Bells Third Coast.

Tonight I am having the afore mentioned Hemp Rye. A nice light bodied brew with a fairly tart finish. This would be a great beer in hotter months, possibly as a session beer, for those that can hold up.

I think I may be developing an acquisition problem.  I'm not drinking as fast as I'm buying…

I know this feeling all too well… Great haul!..

Just a modest grocery store pickup tonight:

I've had the other three before, but not the Tripel Karmeliet.
Just did a quick Beer Advocate search while in the store, seems like it had some decent reviews so I grabbed a bottle.
Curious to hear your thoughts if you've had it @Seul!

I hate filtered beer, but Tripel Karmeliet is nice enough… Perfect for cellaring btw!..

PS: Pirate Noir?.. Screw you  😠 😞

I'm really lucky that we have good Prairie distribution in Texas, or at least in Austin.
Most of my fridge is full of Jester King and Prairie…

Well, i am from near London…. The home of stout!

However this one is strong, slightly sparkling and quite sweet.
It has flavours of roasted nuts, coffee, cola.

Most stouts are around 4-5% abv, but this hits the spot at 7.5.

Almost at Imperial ABV levels then. Most of the Scandi brewers have stouts and impy stouts that would fit the bill. Do you have any spesialist stores near you that have websites?

My fave boozy, Imperial Stout at the mo is by Boulevard Brewery, and comes from their Smokestack Series. Nøgne do a good one as well.

I've had the Stingo and the Imperial. very nice indeed - and definitely not made by a global conglomerate!
