What would you gents drink first in a beer tasting event… Rodenbach Vintage 2010 or Bruery Oude Tart?.. I told me mate it'd be best to have the Vintage first as the Oude Tart is more sour but now I'm not sure...

                Drinking Oerbier…

                http://www.bunitedint.com/information/brands/description/27/

I'm fairly certain this is one of Belgium's best offerings, and breweries. Most fun part of their beers is that they all share a common smell and taste... You can àlways tell it's a Dolle beer...

It took me years to figure this one out, but in the last month or so, I've drank it twice (one Feb 2014 bottle which already showed remarkable evo), and it's finally all come together...

If you find this beer somewhere, buy it, try it, take your time...

My favorite beer east of the Mississippi River has got to be Yuengling lager. I grew up in PA and it is the oldest brewery in America. Nothing like watching the Steelers drinking one of those.  West of the Mississippi has to be Fat Tire. Absolutely love this too.

As the weather has cooled, my purchases have transitioned to more appropriate brews. This week I picked up some Scotty Karate from Dark Horse, Storm King from Victory, a couple bottles of Delirium Tremens, and a Hemp Rye from The Hideout. The latter is a newer brewer out of Grand Rapids Mi that seems to delve into the experimental a bit, but is earning a decent rep around here pretty quickly. Scotty and the King are good as always, while I am anxious to try the Delirium.

Sounds boss, Boss! Seasonal beer buying is one of the things I love the most about this particular bad habit. Impy IPA's, porters, stouts and dark ales galore until xmas!

Yup. But all the badass xmas ales come in December.

Agree about heavy abv all year, strong saisons, trippels and barley wins for summer nights.

                            Speaking of which… This:

An absolute monster of a barley wine, clocking in at 13.2 abv. Thick and syrupy and tastes like toffee apples.

Ægir Brewery gets overshadowed by Nøgne in Norway, and I admit not everything they do works for me, but this is outstanding.

A friend of Julie's was having a surprise birthday party, so we went to Austin for almost 24 hours.  I managed to work in some beer purchasing, despite the best efforts of Chase Bank.  Here's what I picked up.

New Braunfels Brewing Co. Shiva's Tears
New Braunfels Brewing Co. Shiva's Wrath
New Braunfels Brewing Co. Mexican Cannon
                              Ranger Creek Purple Rhine

                              5 Stone Pompous Monkey
                              Prairie Brett C
                              Prairie Funky Gold Mosaic
Jolly Pumpkin Forgotten Tales Of The Lost Gypsy Blender
                              Urban Family Brett Baby Cakes

Jester King Provenance (Lemon & Lime)
                              Jester King Fen Tao
                              Jester King Vulgar Affectation
Jester King La Vie En Rose
Jester King Provenance (Orange & Grapefruit)

I think I may be developing an acquisition problem.  I'm not drinking as fast as I'm buying…

I didn't know it, but Julie's friend lives about 10 minutes from the brewery.  We stopped in after the party, just so I could buy a few bottles.  I'd like to go back and actually look around, drink something on draft, maybe relax a while and get a pizza from the place next door.  No telling when we'll be back in Austin, though.

And yeah, I'm excited about my two bottles of Fen Tao…

It's really a great way to spend the day, Texas hill country and tons of great beer. And the pizza at Stanley's is pretty good too. My girlfriend always scoffs at going because every time I have a weekend off that's how I want to spend it!

Mmmm I do love a good barleywine. Of late I have had a few, Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot, Arcadia Cereal Killer, and Bells Third Coast.

Tonight I am having the afore mentioned Hemp Rye. A nice light bodied brew with a fairly tart finish. This would be a great beer in hotter months, possibly as a session beer, for those that can hold up.

Just a modest grocery store pickup tonight:

I've had the other three before, but not the Tripel Karmeliet.
Just did a quick Beer Advocate search while in the store, seems like it had some decent reviews so I grabbed a bottle.
Curious to hear your thoughts if you've had it @Seul!
