though may i ask what shell is being used? and that really does not look like any #8 shell that i have…

Wouldn't it have to be Horween shell using #8 or is that designation common to other tanneries as well?

I've heard that Alden modifies the Horween #8 to their own specifications, so it's darker than the #8 that comes straight out of the tannery.  Perhaps Viberg has also decided to modify the supply.

That is a fine pair of engineer boots! I love the height of Viberg's engineer and the toe profile is just right.
