Just found today that i have lost my job! Company been shut down. Never been in this situation before any advice of what to do 1st would be great.
First baby due in 3 weeks so to say the timing sucks is a understatement. -
Shit, I'm so sorry @spitfiredealer . The very best of luck….

cheers guys

@spitfiredealer start looking for a job now. The market in the UK tends to be buoyant in April / May with the new financial year, and will pick up once the election is out of the way.
Sorry to hear about your woes, and good luck finding a new one.

Graeme is right. Best to start looking right away. If i were you i would do the following:
-
get in touch with any contacts that may be hiring/interested in hiring.
-
get your cv up to date and contact a few agencies /distribute to key contacts.
-
check your contract of employment with current employer to see what your rights are and whether they are in breach of their obligations! I know you say that they have shut down but worth checking once you have got the above sorted.
Good luck dude!

Been on the phone most of the day with contacts at other places so hopefully that will help.
Going to get the CV updated tomorrow.
Redundancy payments are being sorted by some third party company so will be the bare minimal i would expect.
I am a big believer in everything happens for a reason so hopefully this will lead to something new and better.
Just not came a great time with the baby coming. But hey ho shit happens@Megatron1505 i will be in need of a large home brew at fish n' chips!

First baby due in 3 weeks so to say the timing sucks is a understatement.I've not got much useful advice, other than keep the CV concise, but best of luck to you… And good luck with the baby, too.

First baby due in 3 weeks so to say the timing sucks is a understatement.Horrible mate. Hold your head high, it's not a you thing, rather the company. Get out there and apply for jobs day in/out. Take a day or two (not too long) to get the CV in line then go go go!

As others have said, get your CV in order and get it out to as many professional agencies as possible. Scour Monster and other sites and stay positive. I've been through a similar situation and the quicker you make finding a job your job (horrible cliche I know) the better you feel.
Above all, sorry you're in this situation mate….I'll bring you extra booze to F&C

sorry to hear @spitfiredealer, best wishes on all fronts…

Cheers all. I have been on it all day calling people and sorting out a cv. Got a call from a guy I know asking me to come in tomorrow and speak to him and his MD about the possibility of a job. So fingers crossed
