Forty eight… that's a sportster model isn't it. It actually looks pretty nice. I went off new bikes many years ago but this one looks like it's based on old school Harleys.
I actually might go and take a look at that bike but it wouldn't surprise me if its not available here. I gotta get something with an electric start, my main rider still gotta be kick started and my knee doesnt like it sometimes. Not really a fan of the sports bikes with all the crap on them but this bike looks good.

Harley has done a great job with their Sportster models. The 48, The 72 and 883 Iron are all really nice retro looking bikes. I am planning on customizing an 883 in the next year as a project to keep me busy during the off season. While sportsters are a little small for me, I really like the look and they are great for the city. My son would love one, but I told him he can be like me and wait until he's in his 40's and has grown kids before getting a bike!

You need to get him a bike pronto if he's old enough and wants one. To long to wait till 40's. When I came home from getting my license my dad surprised me with a brand new commando. That same bike today is probably my main rider.
There's something special when a father and son share a love for bikes.
We got this one to do together a few years ago but he got too old and I just cant get enough enthusiasm going to do it on my own. Maybe oneday.

Thank you for sharing. Wow that is an awesome project, I hope you guys are able to get to it at some point! We do work on my bike together at times, my boy is old enough (20) but he's an elite level athlete and now playing college football. A motorcycle for him can wait until he's exhausted that avenue. We share our love for football right now as I am a professional coach for a living and hopefully we will share our passion for bikes and ride together down the line.

That's fair enough Twism. I'm sure you've got his best interests at heart but sometimes a fathers judgement can get a bit clouded about what their son wants and needs. No disrespect to you of course.

That bike may get done one day but it wont be by me and him, he doesn't even know who I am now.

I'm pretty sure I inherited my love of motorcycles from my dad, who rode from his 20s into his 80s.  Many happy memories of riding together, talking about MCs, looking at MCs…

When I get it back I will post pics of what I am having done to his 97 Dyna - I don't have the skill or time to work on it myself, but I am going to have some fun with it - in his memory.

New seat, loving it. Going to redip the tank this year and try to new handlebars. Always have to spend  a few bucks on the bike each year.

I'm getting the Bonneville looking almost how I want it now, and starting to think about performance and suspension.  I've got new pipes (Zard Cross, and Staintune slip-ons, not sure which ones I'll keep) on the way, as well as Bitubo suspension.  Most of it is coming from Italy, so I'll update in several months when it arrives 😉
I'm plotting some FCR 39 flat slide carbs and pod filters too; I like the open look with exposed air filters, and it should be a nice improvement in performance. Not that it's a quick bike, but there's something satisfying about getting it going to it's maximum potential.

I'm a big fan of the 48 as well, I haven't ridden one but they look the business that's for sure.

@injunjack it's only wrong until he can manage his own finances to be able to buy his own. I reward his academic and athletic successes by paying for his car, cell phone, training, housing and clothing, if he really wants a bike he can save and pay for it himself! I give him advice all the time, he chooses what he listens to. By law he's grown man and can do as he wants. He realizes he will have lots of time to ride and only a short while left to compete seriously in football. Contractually a lot of professionals are even allowed to ride motorcycles anyway. @johnathon sorry about your father, I know how challenging that can be as I went through the same thing with my Mom. I made my decision not to ride until I put my family in a position that they would be financially secure if I weren't around. I want him to have that choice, I made many poor decisions as youngster and try to give my kids advice not to limit them but to have them make well though out decisions on everything and when they can't then I make them for them…jk.
I do value both your opinions though as they help me look at things in a different light, but as my wife says I may listen but it's not likely I'm going to change my mind...lol.
                            @mp - ^ that's a sweet bike!

MCN are reporting that Suzuki are going to be putting the Recursion into production. Before you get your hopes up, they're not the most accurate of sources.

For those of you who haven't been following it, the Recursion was a concept bike that was unveiled in 2013. Its mission statement was to give litre bike power from a turbocharged 588 cc parallel twin, in a lighter and more fuel efficient package. OK, the claimed figure of 99 bhp is down on the big boys, but peak torque was said to be 74 ft lbs, and is half respectable.

MCN have produced a render, which is probably hugely inaccurate…

The idea really appeals to me. If it's not sized for midgets, as a lot of Japanese bikes are, then I'll be looking into it if it comes out.

Dipping my bike as we speak. Got a super dark blue. Might add some flake to it, just seeing if I want black or copper accent flake.
